Anyone have any suggestions and/or opinions/recommendations as to what are great card-stamp magazines?
All of my friends say why spend the money, SCS has the gallery, but I just love ideas, and I'm really a "paper" kind of person. I like to curl up with a magazine or something.
I know there is;
Just Cards
Card Making
Stamp It!
Papercrafts
What would you suggest. I do NOT like vintage or retro kind of cards. I know there is a magazine that sells for like $11 (too expensive for me), and it's from the UK.
Let me know what you think... are my friends right? Is there just enough on the web and I could use the money for stamps? HAHAHHAH!
My current subscription to Papercrafts is about to expire and I don't think I will renew and not because I don't like it, more because there is so much that is free to look at on the web, between here, pinterest, facebook, blogs... I am having a hard time justifying it to myself! :mrgreen:
But if curling up with a good magazine brings you to your happy place, why not?!
Good luck with your decision!
I get CardMaker and I have used them alot. I'm with you cause I like to just sit and peruse sometimes. If something don't hit me the first time it might the 2nd or 10th time I look though the mags.

I like Card Maker. Lots of great tutorials and ideas there. I too am a paper person. Always there to refer to without searching through tons of bookmarked sites, can bring it with me while waiting etc.
The parent magazine to just cards is Stamp and Scrap Arts. There are good technique articles and interviews with artists. Check it out at your book store and see if you like it enough to subscribe. I also enjoy the Stampington publications like Take Ten and Stampers' Sampler. Some of their mags lean way vintage and shabby chic but these two have a good variety of projects and styles. The only magazine I subscribe to is Scrapbooks, Etc., which has little stamping but I live to scrap. All the others I read at the book store and jot down notes or sketches if something strikes me.

Check out Vamp Stamp News. It's not a big, glossy, ad-filled magazine. It's a one-woman prduction that has been around since 1993 & has remained true to stamping. Follow the link to the Topic Index to get an idea of what the magazine is all about. You can order back issues & periodically she has a sale them.
For some inspiration, check out the Card Galleries. She posts cards received that weren't published in the magazine.
Technique Junkies is another one. If you like to try out new techniques, you know so we use all those bottles and stamp pads, and stuff, it is a good one to look at and you can get it online or in a paper format (I too like to sit in a comfy chair with a 'paper' magazine to look at!
Craft Stamper magazine, is a UK publication, but is dedicated to stamping. They show you techniques and stamp on things you would not believe could be stamped on. It is a veritable gallery of to die for stamp cards, how to's and pushes you from beginner basics to good to advanced... I love it. PLUS IT HAS A FREE STAMP EVERY MONTH ON THE COVER.
