Default Ever feel like you have waaaaay too much stuff?

I can't get out of my own way because my stamping and scrapping stuff has taken over the dining and guest rooms. I don't have a space and have to drag what I need to the kitchen table after the kids are in bed. By then I am too tired to be creative.

I have lost so many things and then gone out and bought them all over again, only to find them a few weeks later.

And the thing is, I have big plans for organizing a space. I know just how I will arrange the room, the cabinets, the table, the lighting. It's just a matter of making the time to do it! But I have 2 kids that are in activities and I am the taxi service.

This is totally my own fault - a few pieces of paper here, a punch there, a doo-hickey or a tool there, and before you know it, I am drowning in a tidal wave of stamps and supplies and not getting anything accomplished with any of it.

I'm trying - I have stopped cutting those 40% off coupons at Mike's and AC's every week until I actually need (HA!) something. I bought some storage bins and am slowly sorting things into categories like on Mission Organization. I am thinking about what I will never use that can go on ebay. School is out and I am not over extending us for the summer for activities.

But please tell me I'm not the only one and that this will get better!

Yep, you aren't the only one, and (hopefully) it will get better! I found that when I finally had a dedicated space for my supplies, organization much improved. Take courage! And make that a goal over the summer. You will feel more in control.

Oh no, you are not the only one.......!!!!!!
Right now I can't even move in my craft room....yes I said craft room. I took our spare bedroom and made it my craft room. It's a bit small at 9x14' but I use to fit in it with all my stamps and goodies. But I made the mistake of going shopping with my daughter yesterday and I ended up with 12 bags of more goodies that don't have a home yet, except the middle of the floor!
I need an intervention!

It is happening to me too! I finally convinced DH to let me take over the computer room. We'll leave the computer, but take everything else out so we can see the dining room again! Good luck!

It does help to have a space for it all. I was just in my room earlier and I was thinking I truly need to reorganize. It's overwhelming in there. It doesn't help that I just placed another HUGE SU order. Ahhhhh.... I just can't help myself!!

I know excatly how you feel. I find the time to purchase items but never the time to use them, and then I forget where they are. I need my husband to take the girls to his mother's for a week and let me organize.

I just went through much of my stuff because I was *busting* out of the closet where I keep my stuff. We have an apartment, and I can't take over the dining table in the middle of everything! I made three piles kinda like that show "Clean Sweep": Love it, like it, eh. I'm selling/donating everything in the like it/eh piles. Now I have room for more stamps! lol...

I finally convinced DH to let me get some bookcases so I could organize better. I'm in the process of doing that but I keep getting distracted and sit down to stamp something that I get an idea for. So I'm getting there but very slowly!

I know what you mean about feeling like you just have too much stuff. I'm finding all kinds of stuff that I forgot I bought. It's like a mini Christmas in my room at times!

Yes, but then I will go look at pics of other gals stamping spaces and suddenly, everything is a ok again (this also helps when DH is grumping about my stamping stuff taking over the house lol)

I definitely feel that I have too much stuff. It is in all 3 bedrooms(one of these is my craft room), in our den, and downstairs. In other words, it is overflowing everywhere. I am trying to downsize. I am going to have a sale at the end of this month, and hope to sell a lot of my "overload".

Yes, I even stopped spending on stamping stuff for about 3 months because I was buying and never using all the stuff I had. I also have a stamping room but it is a total disaster. I keep buying storage things but can't seem to keep pace with all the new stamps and supplies I buy. And now that summer is here and the kids are home I would rather use what little time I have to stamp than clean and organize my stamp room. Maybe when they go back to school - lol.

If you think you have too much stuff, you should take the weekend off to rethink the situation. Come to the Great American Scrapbook Convention with me and I'll make sure you only buy the stuff that will come home with me!!

I was sooooo proud of myself for using up so much of my economy cardstock, then this weekend I found THREE more packs stashed in my crafting supplies (one Fiskars, two generic Mikes). It's not fair!!!

you can never have too much stuff!

but i love to organize!!!

it is so empowering when you are done!

have hubby take the kids to the zoo or children's museum for the day and dig in! just be sure to have a plan, map out your space and maybe enlist a friend to help you (offer to do the same for her)

good luck and happy stamping!

I NEVER feel like I have enough...but my husband thinks I have waaaayyy too much! I really have to stop being so lazy and transfer my stamping stuff from the closet upstairs (yes, I said closet) to the guest room downstairs...but because I know HOW MUCH time that would take, I am dragging my feet. Until then, I create in that closet......on the floor right outside of it....on a desk in my bedroom....

I am going to move in August and the very thought of trying to down size and organize my stuff for a move makes me cringe. I still have a bunch of projects I want to do between now and then. I am working on making scrapbook calenders for both grandparents. (almost done) Plus what do I do with the stuff I want to downsize? I have a bunch of opened packages of 12 x 12 paper I can't really sell that...

Cammie,

I too am crafting out of a closet. Plan to move things into guest room but not sure how/where to put things. I,too, have been dragging my feet. Any suggestions would be helpful. How has your organizing come along?

I am so right there with you!!!!! I am an impulse shopper
...I do have a wonderful space that's kinda organized (part of a spare bedroom) that my fmarvelous handy dh transformed into a work area for me complete with computer desk, hanging cabinets, file drawers, work and cutting counters, so my *stuff* is kinda organized, but, do I actually need a ton of patterned paper or cardstock, a boatload of embellishments, many different kinds of scissors, yards and yards of ribbon.....the list goes on....and the answer is a resounding NOOOO...but do I continue to buy/order....YES!!!! So...the answer to your original question, in complete honesty is the largest YES ever.

Yup, I have way to much and I am convincing myself that I need to list stuff on ebay and will start working on that this week. I want it out of here by the end of July and maybe make enough money to cover my SU demo kit.

This question will get different answers based on who you ask: if you ask me, the answer is no! I'll never have too much stuff!

Ask my husband, well, you'll get a much different answer!

Hi all~~~thanks for your words of wisdom!! This morning I actually started organizing my stuff. I didn't realize how many stamp sets and CS I had! Found inks (2 pads now)! My motivation??? I wouldn't hop on SCS until I did at least 2 hours of organizing. Writing stuff I had counted :]

Funny, I was just thinking something similar to this thread....I was looking in the office this morning...drinking my coffee, leaning on the door jam and thought to myself...'I need a smaller work table.' Smaller table= less area= messes look bigger=cleaning it off more often! I swear I can never keep that table clean! It is a big table, I will admit that, I built it a few years ago and it is 4ft x 8ft. DH would tell me to just get rid of some things to make more room...I say nay nay! (LOL) smaller table and I'll be more motivated to keep the area clean!

Today I officially feel I have too much stuff. I bought the retired Tag Punch Box on eBay. When it comes I will have 18 stamps for the tag punch. 18. That's insane. I am thinking about rehab.

Smile You think you have too much.....

This morning I went to Wal-Mart and bought another one of those 7 drawer plastic drawer things that is see-through. My stamps are in two of those now.

If only I had a lot of just stamping stuff and scrapbooking things including over 30 albums full but no. There is more. Lots of knitting stuff, crochet, rug hooking, beading, you name it.

When my daughter's mother-in-law died 3 years ago I got all her knitting stuff and it filled a huge plastic container. I have used very little of it. I have more knitting needles than I will ever use. Crochet hooks too and I can't even crochet.

My stuff is in the spare room, the recreation room in the basement, the laundry room. We have a large basement as we have a bungalow and the place is full of stuff. Not just mine but also my dh and ds's stuff as well. . We are all clutter collectors. I cannot part with any of the stuff. It could come in useful.

We have been in this house 37 years and will have to stay here until the very end. Many neighbours who were first time purchasers and had to move out have the same affliction. Some had as many of 3 dumpsters full of stuff and cars would stop and root through it and find useful things.

I keep trying to keep the house tidy but it just doesn't work.

Of course when I do tidy, I have the pleasure of finding something really great I didn't even know I owned. There is a positive side.

Good Luck to all who are clutter collectors. There is no cure.

Default I also have way too much stuff. I refuse to stop

buying craft supplies, but I'm working on buying less (notice I said "working on"). Crafts are my main hobby, and that's why I buy so much stuff. I do rubber stamping, scrapbooking, and polymer clay. I have a small craft table, and I keep my pasta machine on it for the polymer clay. But I don't have enough room to do stamping and scrapping on my craft table, so I either work on the kitchen table or use a tray that I put up in the living room. I need to buy more cabinets so I can find my supplies more easily.

Would you be able to get up early and craft when your kids are still sleeping?

Luckily for me, I am pretty obesessive when it comes to organizing my stash. I am forever changing the ways of organizing stuff because I keep buying and buying! lol. I'm more of a hoarder than user... I'm terrible!
