Default Essential Background Stamp?

What would you consider to be the 2 or 3 most essential background stamps to have? Which ones do you use the most and are the most versatile? I have to place an order by Feb 10th and am trying to decide.

Thanks, Denise

All of them... just kidding, sort of! I would say Canvas and French Script. For a third Maybe Print Pattern. Choose the most versatile ones first.

No fair - I can't pick only 2 or 3! But if I have to: Definately Canvas or Linen, Print Pattern and By Definition.

Of course I have almost all of them...

Before looking at what the other posters said, I decided that Canvas, French Script and Print Pattern are my must-haves. Wow, glad to see others agree!

I think that if you have only 2 or 3 that lt least 1 of them has to be a none image specific stamp-so what I mean by that is that it is just abstract, not necessarily OF something (like By Definition or Floral). So my top pics would be:

Canvas
Print Pattern
Cheesecloth

and my favorite image ones:
French Script
By Definition
Floral

If you are going to choose 3 I would choose 2 "texture/non-image" ones and 1 image one. Have fun!

I would say Canvas or Linen (adds texture), then Floral or Print Pattern(makes your cardstock pop out), and then French Script or By Definition (two very versatile stamps), based on your preferences.

I would pick Floral (that was my first), then Print Pattern ( I have that one on the way, I got Crosshatch before that, but didn't like it so well, it wasn't me). But I suppose it is a personal choice based on style. My sister has Canvas and is nice and basic.

I like Canvas and just ordered print pattern, I also think linen will be amazing. Floral can do some amazing backgrounds too I have the regular script so do not need the french script as of yet..lol!

Definitely canvas, floral and print patern. I tried to get different "sizes" of backgrounds from subtle to out there. I'm ordering french, fine lace and houndstooth at my party next week! Now to choose the SAB set...

Picking just 2 or 3 is hard. I really like my Canvas, and use it quite often. I just got Houndstooth, and I really like it, to my surprise. Print Pattern is a nice one to have, as is Floral. I guess it really depends on you style. I am a firm believer that you can never have too many background stamps.

Wow, thanks for all the suggestions. I like the Print Pattern, Canvas, and French Script. Now that several have mentioned it, I like the Floral, it has a toile look to it. I can't find Linen in the catalog though, is that a retired one?

Linen is in the new upcoming Spring mini catalog.

I love Print Pattern, Fine Lace, Canvas or Linen, Houndstooth for soft look, French script for vintage....

Okay...I can't pick. I have them all. I have a serious problem. It's called rubber addiction.

Ok, I'll look in the Spring Mini then. When will it be available online to look at?

Thinking Linen was a retired piece, I skipped over to ebay to look at it. Someone on there has the Linen stamp. If it's not out til the Spring catalog, how can they have it up for sale?

I use Canvas most often. I got Just Jeans a couple weeks ago and am really liking it too. Both of them lend a subtle little "something extra" to the background.

Canvas, French script & weathered. French script is on my list for February. Weathered gives an antique look, and canvas is just totally necessary!

Good luck to you. I'm sure you'll love whatever you choose.

After careful consideration, and much study of all the posts;) , I'm going to hold off on Canvas til I get a good look at Linen next month. So, for this month I am going to order Print Pattern and Floral. Next month, I will order French Script and either Canvas or Linen. Probably, the month after that, I will order Bamboo, because my husband likes it so much. I do too, I'm very drawn to botanical type stuff.

I'm in a stamp club so I'm trying to space out all my ordering!
