Default making your own rubber stamp

How difficult is it to make your own rubber stamp, if you have a design in mind?

My DH is very creative and he wanted to try his hand at this. But we have no idea on how to get started. I thought I would start here and see if anyone has done this. We are not talking about starting a company....just want to see if it possible to produce some of his artwork onto rubber so I can use it on my cards.

I have a link on my other computer, I think. It's a place where you send like a 9x12 page with all of your artwork on it. They can advise how to place it all to get maximum use out of the rubber. They will create a sheet of rubber out of your drawings and return them to you. Very cool! Last I heard it was about $35 for the sheet. I'll go look for it later...

Denise,

Have a look in this thread:
Help... Where to have a stamp made? <---click

As I mention in that thread, look in your Yellow Pages and see if there's a printing company which makes custom stamps. Otherwise, there are a few suggestions of companies. I'm still working on getting one made, too.

Anyone (else) have personal experience with this???

Cris

Default FOUND IT!!

Sorry, girls, I forgot about it! This is a place called Ready Stamps. They are part of an organization that benefits people with Cerebral Palsy. Fantastic group of people! The link takes you to the page that tells you all about it, the price, how they are made, what you need to send them, everything.

They do say to make sure and request the matrix (the mold). They won't think to send it otherwise. DO IT!!! It doesn't cost any extra, and you can do lots of fun things with them. You could press polymer clay or air dry clay into them to make embellishments to match your stamping, for one idea.

Cost is $32 plus $5 s/h, which is fantastic! You get a 9x7 piece of rubber back which you then cut up and mount however you want.

Ready Stamps

Check 'em out! And feel good that you'll be contributing to a worth cause, too!

Sorry to take so long with this.....

Another possibility is a kit that allows you to make a stamp at home.

Make Your Own Rubber Stamps

I have NOT done this, but have seen the kits at some stores (Michael's or Joann's)

http://www.stampin.com/

I ordered from here something custom to make my niece's wedding invites. THey are AWESOME and look just like any stamp you would get at the store, very nice and quality is awesome.

Thanks for bringing this up, someone was asking me about custom stamps the other day and this prompted me to look for the link I had used.

Too funny, I had to custom order the monogram I had made in Edwardian Script font, which I used for the invitation -- they have since added that to their product line! I take that as a compliment since they obviously liked what I ordered enough to add it to their selection!!!
