Default embellishments on cards for troops overseas?

Does anyone with experience sending cards to troops know whether or not 3-D embellishments should be eliminated from cards - like brads, ribbons, hardware, etc. Would it make it harder to mail? Should I stick to layering cardstock? Thanks for your help!

For the most part everything went through fine. Only a couple times did I have an issue and I sent something almost everyday. Not bad odds.

The only insight I can offer is that I've read the backs of hardware should definitely be covered -- no bare prongs of brads showing through on the inside of the card, etc. I don't know if this would apply to eyelets, but it's easy enough to just cover the backs anyways and not have to worry about it.

Come to think of it. I put a piece of CS in front of the card so all the bumps were rounded off. But I only did that when it was in a white enevelope.
