So last night was spent starting my index book. I did all of the unmounted stamps I have which got me through about 28 sets. Leaving me 35 that I'm going to have to either stamp or find the image set online.
Why didn't I do these images sooner?! This is going to take me ages!
I wonder.... is it okay to print off the index sheets that are loaded in the gallery and keep those in a binder? That would be pretty quick to do. I would make sure you keep the whole page as it would have the link at the bottom.

I often thought about copying the page out of the catalog. I'm sure there is some sort of copyright thing against making copies, but if all you are doing is an index that no one would see but yourself and you don't plan on selling it, I don't think anyone would come after you. Just a thought.

I did the same thing and got so overwhelmed that I just didn't finish the darn thing!!! Just couldn't stand stamping another stamp out. Then I saw a thread here where they said they copied the sticker sheet that comes with new stamp sets. So I thought, GENIUS, for now on I'm doing that. Then got a ton of stamps during Selabration and remembered half way through mounting them that I forgot to copy the sticker sheet. ARGHH. Getting organized is way a lot of work. Mary

i like to keep my 'index book' handy when i am stamping.
if i need to compare sizes or if i am looking for a certain image it is so much easier to just page thru this than to try to recall all the images in a set by looking at the titles on the ends of the boxes.

What I have done is to print out the set from the online catalog as my personal index sheet. Of course any of the retired sets are not there, but if you print out the sheets as you purchase new sets, this will not be a problem. THe print out is for my records only, so I hope I am not breaking any copyright rules!

I wish I had the old catty PDF! I was looking for it earlier because this is what I was going to do!
To carry this a step further, not only have I indexed my stamps, but I also have punchouts of my punches and diecuts in another binder, ink color samples, glitter glue samples, embossing powder samples, Prisma Color samples, marker samples etc., etc. It is much easier to see what I have to work with, tell how the color is going to appear (in the case of EP, Prisma, ink and markers) and I'm not buying doubles like I used to - well at least it is nice to know I consistently like the same thing and my friends liked getting the duplicates - LOL.
One other handy tip to share is to store a sample of the paper that you punch out shapes on (in particular the new large scalloped punches and tags). I've got a square, oval and round and a few tags which I store in the pocket of my stamp index binder so that I can lay it over a stamped image to see which shape will best fit that particular stamp.
I wish I'd done an index from the start. I have hundreds of sets, and I feel overwhelmed just thinking about it! It's a great idea to print off the gallery index images. I may just do that!

I'm planning on doing my Punches, I've been getting the smaller stamped images to use on the "Create A Coupon" set and it's difficult to flip back and forth. But the rest of it is a really good idea as well.
This may end up my project next week when I have the house to myself lol

I was having a hard time getting them to look not pixely (even when printed from a photo editing program) It may just be the printer I'm using.
*whispers*You could also do photo copy's out of the book.
The most difficult part about this is Categorizing. My Card Club wants to do specific Holiday's and I suggested doing what categories SU! puts them in but it was a no go. One of them went "Well we will still need to break down Holiday" they also want an excel spreadsheet of all our stamps. It's making me want to beat my head into the desk.
