Dumb Question....

Just out of curiousity...
I just cut 15 new stamp sets and mounted them...

I now have this HUGE bag of rubber pieces....

Does anyone have any uses for them or shall I toss them?

txblueyes 02-28-2006 06:08 PM

they are great for using to make shaker cards, or anything where you might want to use a pop dot or foam tape!! I just learned this recently, and wish I had known that before. Now I keep all my trimmed rubber!!

You could cut some to make shadow stamps. Especially for behind little words like Everyday Flexible Phrases.

you can also make your own mosaic background. most stamp store sell the wood blocks.

THANKS!
I had heard of using them in place of dimensionals.....

But I really like the idea of making up some of my own stamps for backgrounds.

Here's a card with the background I made with my extra pieces: http:////www.splitcoaststampers.com/...0&ppuser=21953

I have used these as dimentionals as well, but I found that the sticky let go after a while, try one first and let it sit for a few days to make sure your project won't come apart, I know that humidity can be different and that may affect things. I'm not trying to be a party pooper, I would just hate for one of your works of art to fall apart in its recipient's hands!

I have looked and looked, I know I have seen a mosiac stamp made with lots of little pieces and it was shaped like a hand. It was so cool. If anybody finds it, please post a link.

I've added some glue to the spongey part to make them stay stuck when I've used less tacky pieces as a demonional.

Leslie, your card is BEAUTIFUL! I love it...TFS! :D

Here is the link to the one I personally love! The lady used scrap rubber to make a hand and then used the retired set PEACE ON EARTH. Thanks for reminding of this site.

Great thread!! I throw the rubber scraps away. Won't be doing that anymore. TFS.

I make a background with my scraps too, modelled after the Busy Blocks wheel. Here's a couple of links to cards in my gallery where I used it:

That's the hand I was thinking of! I'm glad you found it! I think it's awesome!
