I was in termoil over buying the newer version of the fiskars paper cutter because I already had the old one, which worked fine and I couldn't justify the cost of the new one. I finally bit the bullet and bought the new version. Why did I wait so long!!! It was less than $20 with my SU discount. Well worth the money!
If it the purple version, I bought one and gave it away, it made me angry, it left just as many crappy little nibs at the end of my cuts as the old did....
I got a carl cutter and it is much more precise, but I use the old fiskars for scoring.
There is a wider base that goes to about 5 in insead of 4 1/4 in. It also cuts straighter. Sometimes I would get a small curve with the old fiskars cutter. I hated it. Also, there are standard measurements that are already marked on the base for you. Takes the thought out of it. One other thing to the left of the slider it marks up to two in. Love this feature too.
That really sounds good. I have the purple one and it does a great job (for me) except that the cutting blade pops out a little too often. It came with a pair of scissors that I use a lot too. I think I will have to check out the new one. Thanks for the info!
If you still have the orange and black one and it doesn't cut straight, you can call Fiskars and tell them. I did and they sent me a brand new purple one free!!! It's much better, but you really need to replace the little cutter thingies often.
