Doodle Stamps Trend
Passing trend or here to stay? I love the way the doodle sets look now, but I worry that they will be so 2007 by next year. I hate to spend money on things that are dated quickly. I have Love Matters and now I am debating about the Doodle Alphabet and Doodle This and That.
What do you think?

If you're a demonstrator I can see where it would matter, but otherwise I wouldn't care. The questions I'd ask myself are: Do I like it? Will I use it enough to be worth the money? If you make cards with it, I just don't see people saying, oh how passe (sp?), instead of what a nice card, how thoughtful. If you scrapbook, I think it's kind of neat to see the changing of the trends thoughout the scrapbooks.

I voted for "here to stay" because I think it will stay long enough to justify purchasing the stamps. In real life everything is a passing trend. But unlike the comeback of the bell-bottom pants, which lasted for a few months, I think the doodle stamps will last for a few years.

It seems like the craft industry conspires to make EVERYTHING a trend, just to get us to fork over more cash!! Just like fashion and home decorating. That said, yeah, doodles are a trend, but I like a lot of them. However, it is boring when I look at new stuff and you see the same thing everywhere.....

I also think it's a trend that won't be here very long. It's also not my "style" so I won't be buying Doodle This or Doodle That. I love what some people are doing with the sets, but not enough to buy them lol!
I also think that paisley is another trend that won't last that much longer, but that is a trend that I do love.

I think trend. But I really like it. So for me, I'll buy one or two sets.

I don't really get the whole doodle thing....so I put passing trend, but I think if you like it and enjoy the set..you should invest in it. Personally, I love the vintage sets which I'm sure are a trend, but I still buy them.

I like doodling and stamps that look like doodles, but I voted it a passing trend.

I see vintage stamps as a niche market that became a trend for a while and then returned to being a niche market. Hopefully doodle and retro-style stamp images will do the same.

I said trend. But, I think purchasing a few stamps won't be a waste of money.

i think it will be over soon.
if you read creating keepsakes it all started with elsie flannigan, like last year. i dont think it will go much longer.
If you really like some doodles this set doodle that i think is only 11.95 its not too bad to have some fun playing and i think you still might get a good price on ebay for it.

I really like the doodles, but I do think they are a trend that will pass. It seems as though everything in crafts is a trend - some last longer than others. But I have paper that I bought 2 years ago and when I re-organized my stamp room I looked at it and thought - "Why in the world did I buy this??"
It isn't just the craft industry where things come and go, imo. It happens in home decorating, fashions, cars, all kinds of stuff. It's all a big conspiracy to make me spend my money !!! At least that is what I keep telling myself!

I voted as a trend, but I will probably get a doodle set just because it will be fun while it lasts. I haven't hopped on the Bella bandwagon or very many other trends for that matter. Sometimes you have to kick off your shoes and jump in and enjoy it even though it maybe short-lived. On the other hand, if it is simply not your style it doesn't matter how much it is a trend.

Everything seems to come in and out of style. I sometimes get a stamp I love and HAVE to have, create a ton of cards with it...and make myself tired of it before the set even gets retired! LOL!

I voted "trend", but ordered the doodles today anyway because I like the casual whimsical look of them. If you think about, like others have mentioned, nearly everything is a trend. The real question is how long will it be trendy. And, in a few years, everything also seems to come back around again and a whole new generation thinks it's new.
I remember as a kid I HATED paisley, but now it's back and not so bad (LOL) as I look around my craft space at all the stamps, designer paper, and texture plates with paisley's all over them.

I think they're a trend, but I think they'll be around more than one year. Kinda like the hedgies... they stuck around what? Five years?

I think a trend, but I bought Doodle That because the price was right and because I haven't the skills to doodle freehand!

I loved Paisleys the last time around and I am sooooo excited to have them back! I think they will always come back around even if it does take 20 years. (Has it been that long?)
Thanks for all your input on the doodling. I think I might just get the Doodle Alphabet with the March special. That way I'm getting a great deal and I won't feel as bad if they don't stay hip for long. But then again, I've seen some amazing stuff in the gallery for Doodle This too. . .. Decisions, decisions!

Me too. I don't plan on purchasing Doodle This, although I do love the set. But I am debating getting the alphabet and numbers for scrapbooking. I need an alphabet set and probably should stick to something more traditional.
