I am doing a wedding album and i am torn between getting an album with page protectors and ones that do not have them. Mainly because i want to have interactive pages i am leaning towards the ones with out but i am not sure how protected they will be or how to make sure the pages stay on the ones in the book. I guess i start my pages on a 12 x 12 that is not in the album already so i would have to adhear it to the page in the album. does that make sense??
Does anyone have a preference, and why? And if you prefer the ones with out the page protectors, do you know of any places that have albums like that for a wedding album?
I've never seen an album without page protectors. I do 12 x 12 and use them just to protect all the work I've put into the pages. Maybe I'm not sure how you plan to do it, but if you have pictures and embellishments on one page and the opposite page has stuff on it, then you risk having the pages rub on each other and maybe damage the pages. I'm also not sure what you mean by interactive. I did my daughters engagement party and wanted to use all the photos, so on one page I put one of those little mini photo album that was hooked at the top and put the extra photos in there, then I just cut the page protector around 3 sides so you could life it up and then look at the rest of the pictures.

well the part i am most worried about is i am making those petal envelopes from the sizzix die cut and i am putting little journaling in those, so i would want to be able to pull out the journaling to be read. But i guess i could cut a slit where it would come in and out....i am kind of new at this scrapbooking thing, i had done it quite a bit 5 years or so ago but then put it away, so the interactive parts i love but i aloso want to have the pages protected. so your explanation makes sense.
How do you know where to cut your slit? say if I had the envelopes all over the page at random places. do you mark your line wiht a black pen and then cut out the pen mark??? or maybe use a dry erase marker to mark, then cut, then erase the mark?? i suppose that would work?
absolutely WITH page protectors. It will likely be the most important album that a person has, or at least the most cherished. I would definitley inlude the page protectors. JMHO. :-)

I've done a couple of small albums without page protectors and I had a few interactive layouts. I love to use eyelets and other embelishments and I just have to be careful where I place them, so that they don't rub against a photo on the opposite page. I guess it just depends what type of album it is and how much wear and tear it will go through. But, in my opinion I like it when you can 'get' to the page and it's not 'trapped' behind plastic. That's my opinion anyway...

I use page protectors in all of my albums. I have just started playing around with the idea of cutting out places when you can open sections and take out the journaling but not sure if I will actually use it in my albums.I am pretty anal about my page protectors.

When I did mine, I just made the layouts and put the final product in the page protector, then with an exacto knife carefully cut around. You don't have to press very hard so it didn't scratch what was underneath. If you don't feel comfortable doing that, I would suggest you mark the page protector after you put your layout in it, and then remove the page from the protector and put a cutting mat inside the page protector under where you are going to cut.
