It seems at some point in time I came across a thread or a card in the Gallery where chalk resist was mentioned. The way I understood it was you stamp a solid image in Versamark and then color it with the pastels. Is that correct?

So for example, if I did this with Heartfelt Thanks, I would use the solid image to stamp in versamark, color over it with pastels, and then could I stamp the outline with classic ink?

I'm thinking about demoing this, as a make n take, and want to know if is right before I try it myself.

Actually I Have done it exactly the opposite: color the paper with chalk then stamp over it with the versamark solid stamp, then the outline stamp. Linda

what you described is actually called poppin' pastels - stamping in the versamark and then coloring it with the chalks. I have done it the 2 step method as well like you described!

I believe that when you color the paper with chalk ink up a stamp w/ versamark it's called pullin' pastels - thats literally what the image in verasmark does.. pulls the chalk color off the paper.

One method I have used a lot is to stamp with clear embossing ink, dry with heat gun, then - using cotton ball - brush with chalk. It's a great technique for detailed stamps -- not for two step.
