Default case-ing procedures

I am new to this website and I am so inspired. What would be the polite way to go about it, if I saw a card in the gallery and wanted to make it for one of my Christmas cards? Is that a big no-no, or would emailing the maker and asking permission be the way to go about it? Or is it just kind of understood that there are only so many things to do with a stamp set and having like-designs are just bound to happen.
Thanks
gabby

Sending an e-mail or PM is a courteous thing to do; It's also nice to give credit to the original designer when you post your card in your gallery, and to go one step further, you could add a link back to the original card so people can see what inspired your creation! Thanks for asking!

The only thing that is discouraged in CASEing etiquette, would be copying another's original design for contest entry, publication, or other form of personal gain.

If you are duplicating a card for your own personal use, you are welcomed and encouraged to do so, and need not contact the original artist.

If you upload your duplicate to the internet, the original artist will always be highly flattered if you make note of their original as your source of inspiration, and/or, as Kathy said, you can provide viewers a link to the original work. It's like saying, "Thank you for inspiring me!" to the original artist.

Enjoy making your holiday cards! There are so many beautiful samples in the gallery sure to inspire!
