Default Does anyone make their own envelopes?

I was at Joann's to day and I bought a envie maker. My mom played around with it and I think it will work, but my question is, what do you use for the sealer?

We have thought about double sided tape and leave the paper on, or maybe "non-permanent" adhesive.

Any ideas will be helpful!!

Thanks

Yep, you can buy envelope sealer. I have some envelope templates that came with the sealer. It's basically like a roll-on glue, very easy to use and works good.

I don't. I find it "blecky" to make envies. While I occasionally stamp on pre-fab ones, nekked envies do not bother me. I just care about the goods inside. LOL!

If I were to make my envies, I would just use whatever adhesive I have layin' around.

Sorry I didn't answer your question fully; I'm in a playful mood today, and attempting to delay the inevitable: school supply/clothing shopping with my 2 kids aaaaaaaaaall day. eek!

I am too lazy to make my own envelopes. There is also a homemade recipe for a sealer. but I would use my regular adhesive for the rest of it.

Here is a recipe for Homemade Envelope Glue that I found here. I'm sorry I don't know who posted it, so I can't give credit. HTH
Mix one part white vinegar, one part white glue, and one drop of peppermint flavoring in a disposable cup. Brush on the back of a handmade envelpe or artist stamp (designed to look like postage). Let it dry. When ready to use, just lick and stick.

The glue SU sells is the envelope glue from greensneakers.com. They also sell envelope templates. I would use this glue if I was making a card I was selling to someone but it's not necessary if you are just making a card to give someone as you can use any glue. If you are making envelopes for cards to sell, go to green sneakers and order the glue.

I make my own envelopes quite often. I used to use my coluzzle but have an accucut die now and that makes quick work of it. I always line them too- just a real nice finished look.
I also am addicted to the string closure and will mail in a clear envelope as I don't trust ANY glue on the market to keep my envies nice and tight through the mail system.

here is an example: //www.splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=277434&cat=500&ppuser=22735

I love that! Blecky. I am sure I used that word when I was a little girl!

I bought SU's envelope template just for fun. I just used regular printer paper for the envelope, then different scrapbook papers for liners. They are kind of fun, and don't take much time. I posted on here quite a while back asking about envelope glue as well. Someone told me about something - maybe "lick and stick". They sent me a link, but it was expensive shipping if I wasn't buying other things as well. So, I put it off, and when SU came out with it, I bought some. It seems to work fine.

Thanks for all the advice. I tried the homemade glue and it worked very well.

I bought some envelope glue at Joann's on sale a few months before it appeared in the Spring Mini. It was only a couple dollars for the bottle (which I haven't actually used yet, but it was a great bargain! LOL). Look in the adhesive/glue section.

I started making mine using Anna Griffin templates and LOVE them..I don't do them for all cards, but when I want a very special card...or if I have spare matching paper I will just make a liner for one of SU envies...that is easy and a good use of scraps... I use red line tape for the envies...and su envie glue for the flaps. Also, if I have patterned paper that I won't use for scrapping or something, I use it for an envelope....a good use of themed papers.

I also LOVE to make my own envies (especially out of old pp that I don't want in a scrapbook ) and also use Anna Griffin templates and redline tape. I've found the envie glue doesn't work very well, but mine isn't from SU (I think I got it from Michael's) so maybe that's the problem. I just use the redline tape to seal the envie closed too.
