I don't know that you can substitute something else for the marker. It is just the same embossing ink that is in the Versamark pad; but in "marker" form so you can draw on certain spots to emboss them.

If you had a refill for the Versamark pad, maybe you could use a paintbrush and dip it in some of the refill to be able to do the technique she showed. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful!

Hey hotwheels! I watched that too - fun technique!

You could use a blender pen if you have one and pick up some of the versamark from your ink pad with it - or even a paintbrush - anything that you could color with. HTH

Linda, Im pretty sure they sell the versamark markers at both joanns and micheals if you have those stores near you? ( and they used to have it in the su book if you have a demo to call)

hth,
the thing of the marker is it dries really slow like the pads, so you can use it if you had heat embossed and "missed" a spot when the powder dried you can fill in with the marker, dump more powder and reheat...

Default Michaels for sure

I can't add any more suggestions for a replacement but I do know that Michaels in Canada sells the markers. Also, I have used this technique to spot-colour images I have coloured both with pencils and markers. I colour the flowers, for example, using pencils, then re-colour the part I want to highlight with the versamark marker, then use clear embossing powder and heat. It creates the look of glossy accents but it's easier to be more precise. I have used it on a rose stamp and coloured just the flower part of the roses like this - it turns out beautifully. (hope it's ok to post this here). Hope the substitutes work if you can't get to a store Linda.
