Does anyone else hate Sew Seasonal?

When I was going through the catalog, there were so many cute sets this year, and even sets that I would have no use for I thought were at least cute or nice for someone else. Then I came to Sew Seasonal. Will anyone buy this set? (Apologies in advance for someone who will, and who I'm sure will do wonderful things with it, but I really can't see how.....) It just sticks out like a sore thumb amid a lot of nice, professional looking sets. YUK!

Well, its certainly not my style! It falls mere hairs above Sampler Sayings, which is on the very bottom of my list. It will definitely be exercise of rubber supremecy for someone to make me fall in love with it!

I get it free from covention. The only thing I like about it is the stem. I will mount the stem without the leaves, so I will have a line of stitching. That's about all I like about this set. But I'm sure there will be others who love it! Isn't it great that there is something for everyone? For instance, I love my Clowning Around set and use it a lot, and most SCS-ers hate it!

is that the one that looks like it is stitched? if so, bleh bleh bleh i don't like it at all. then again, that is just my opinion. BUT, i am almost certain that there are people that do like it and will do amazing things with it.

Sewing is truly my first love and I was SEW looking forward to the new sets I had read about. I was very disappointed in both of them. I will probably purchase the wheel Sew Sweet, that is kinda cute. I can imagine just adding some buttons to that and making a quick card.

LOL, Stampin' Up is very good at what it does...designing stamps for every taste! I can think of a couple of customers just off the top of my head that will more than likely get this set! It'd be a pretty small catalog if we all had the same tastes, kwim?

As with most sets that I initially hate, I'm sure I'll see samples in the gallery that will help me change my mind...I can't wait to see what's out there!

I was hoping for a set with plain "faux" stitching...I don't think this is what I had in mind.

I was also hoping for a plain faux stitches sets, not one with a pumpkin and a christmas tree. So not my style.

I do a lot of cross stitching (it's one of my OTHER time-consuming hobbies) but I did not like any of the sewing-related stamp sets in the catalog. I know a lot of people like the Aida background but I just looked at it and thought, now why do we need that? I really do like the catalog as a whole though, and while my wish list is slightly smaller this year than it was last year, I'm sure that's going to change once I start seeing some samples with the new sets on here. For instance, I initially liked "Stay Tuned" ok, but wasn't really planning to get it, until someone suggested it for making masculine cards...and now it's on my wish list

I have been sewing a lot longer than I've been stamping and I was "sew" looking forward to the new sewing theme stamps but I was also very disappointed when I saw them. I will definitely not be buying the Sew Seasonal nor the wheel. They definitely don't represent the style or quality that SU usually has.
Yuck!

I was looking forward to them when the new catty arrived around the world and we started getting descriptions of all the new stuff. After having seen it I am not so sure about it and have placed it far, far down on the wishlist.

Wow, what different tastes we all have. That was probably one of the first sets I put on my wish list...and I don't even sew! *shrug* I personally hate the clowns (ok, ANYthing with clowns freaks me out!). ;) And I have a really hard time getting into how the color brown is in EVERYthing...just not my style. I love the cover of the new catty, however. The layout, fonts, and color scheme is so classic and elegant IMO. But I realize it's just not some people's cup of tea. To each her
own...

Oh...and I love the lawn ornament set, too. It was one of the top few to make it to my list, too. (I don't have a hard catty in front of me yet, but you all know the one I mean.) It really fits my sense of humor, but I read a thread here where people were quite dismayed with it.

I *almost* like them, but they are a bit too messy for me. DISCLAIMER: don't laugh when I buy the set in 3 months. LOL I tend to end up with lots of stuff I initially say I don't care for.

Funny, I was thinking when I saw it how much I liked it because the stitching on cards/scrapbooks is so popular and how there is no way I would ever actually stitch and how great there was a stamp set!! I really like it -- I can see using the flower and snowflake for backgrounds. In fact, I saw some patterned paper that was similar to brocade blue with white flowers very similar to that flower/daisy.

I can see lots of possibilities -- like others say, there are sets for every taste!! I for one end up liking sets later on after I have seen others do stuff with them also.

I soooo agree, I was expecting real faux stitching like ------- or xxxxxxx or zzzzzz. I'm not sure what the designer was drinking at the time.
I really like the pattern of friendship in the mini, that's a sewing stamp set.

Favorites in the new catty....love the retro sets and the fat chef.
Noticed the drabness of the sample cards in the catty.
Love the cover, tab system, and femininity overall.
glad they got somewhat caught up to the industry.

(still have not received my comp. catty however)

Funny how one person's yuck is another person's yea! In the summer mini, I love Laundry Notes, but I noticed that it isn't one of the more popular ones in the gallery. It's the only set I got from the mini. However, I don't like Polka Dot Posies, even having seen all of the talented samples in the gallery. I can't say that I care for the stitching sets in the new catty, either. I've never liked anything that was needle-worked anyways. I'm sure those who get Sew Seasonal will do wonders with it.

This set is actually very similar to some of the stamps that Hero Arts has been coming out with. Example here: http://www.heroarts.com/products/pro...777&subCat=A01

I like the set, but I am not in love with it or the ones from Hero Arts either.

My initial thought was.... wow, if someone got paid to design that set... I could easily come up with some of my own designs and sell them!

I also was looking forward to a set with stitching. I saw the zig zag on Inky Antics and thought it was great. I sew on the side, but pulling the sewing machine out to sew on a card is too much work. I have a hard time stamping let alone sewing and stamping.

Default Blinking

Going to convention, so I was excited to see the sets we are going to get. The sewing one made me blink a couple of times before I finally accepted that this was one of my freebies. A little disappointed. But I am hoping someone will have some amazing samples that will make me change my mind. I might see a set that does nothing for me until someone makes an awesome sample with it.

It seems as though it fits more into what SU used to be like and not as current. Even though sewing is in, this set seems kinda dated. Just my opinion.

I LOVE the Hero Arts stitched flowers- and have been eyeing them at my LSS. But that being said, my first thought on the SU set was blah. I do like the flower and the stem, but the others don't do it for me. But since it sounds like a lot of the demo's received a set at convention, I'll watch for samples. If y'all can do something awesome with it I just may add it to my wish list.

I'll say I don't care for it now... but who knows... if someone does an amazing sample in the gallery and then it will get moved to my wish list... (this happens all the time).

I actually like the look of this set. LOTS of stamp companies have been going out with stamps of stitched flowers and other shapes. Granted it could've been better, but it's a start. I was glad to see that SU didn't miss out on this trend. I hope to see more sets like it in the future.

I think it has tons of possibilities. Stamping a background first with linen or aida cloth and then stamping on top of it with this set could be quite lovely. I also can see stamping and then embossing over patterned paper for a quilt type effect. One person's hate is another person's like, love, etc!! That's why I really like SU -- such variety!!

I noticed those sets as well and they did not strike me as "must have" items. In the 1997 catalog there were quite a few hand stitched sets and quilting things. Some of those seemed cuter/more practical than those offered now. Since I have been a faithful customer for many years...I tend to be choosy and only buy what seems striking or different in some way. It must be a challenge to keep up the offerings for folks like me that have been buying a long time who don't want spin offs of retired ideas. ;)
