I think of the 4 families like seasons: BB's are Summer, Rich Regals are Winter, Soft Subtles are Spring & Earth Elements are fall. Does anyone else do that? I know I'm dorky, but are you dorky that way, too?
I have always thought that! Another question. Does anyone refer to other things in their daily lives, such as clothes and furniture, in SU colors? I mentioned something about my "bashful blue" sweater to DH one time and he was like "What the...?"
But yes, I always see the SU colors like that, and I tend to use them at those times of the year as well.

I have always thought of the colour families in seasons. And I use them in their seasons too. Right now, I'm sick of RR - cuz I used them so much right before Christmas. I've been into the SS colours lately - likely because our weather here has definitely been more like Spring than Winter. And, yes, I too use the SU colours to describe every day things. It's sooo difficult when you come across a colour that just isn't a part of SU! I just don't know what to call those colours!
I'm with Julie! I sometimes forget who I'm talking to though. Some folks just don't understand what I'm talking about when I say something is kinda between bliss blue and brocade blue. Imagine that...
The seasons thing is interesting! I use all the colors year-round but that makes perfect sense!

Yep, that's how I think of them, too. I tend to use only certain colors, depending on the season, so I guess you aren't the only dorky one!!

Does anyone remember that "makeup/wardrobe" craze from the late 80's? You went to have your "colors" done and came out of the class saying "I'm a winter" and you were given a tip sheet on what color makeup/clothes worked best for your skin/hair tones?... Well, the SU colors pretty much go along those lines that the Color Consultants gave you after having yours read. I wonder if Shelli had her colors read before and that is why they're grouped that way?

I have always thought of the color families that way. I thought we were supposed to think of them that way. I discovered SU! in July 05. At my first workshop I bought the BB family. Next came the EE family cause it was fall. Then of course for winter and Christmas I had to get RR. And finally my DH completed the set and bought me the SS family, just because. That's right, my hubby called my demo and ordered the entire SS family for me just cause! No B-day, anniv., nothing. He said he wanted me to have all the colors. What a sweetie!!
I'm so glad I'm not the only "dorky" person...I am constantly referring to everything in SU colors, even colors that I want to paint my house. For example, I wanted a Close to Cocoa and Chocolate Chip and I took my card stock to the paint store. I even look at some of my color combinations from SU and think about putting them together in my wardrobe when I'm feeling like I need to switch things up. I think it's all part of the SU Fever!

Maybe that's why I think of SU colors like this! FIRST someone told me I was an Autumn, which is way off. I have very bluish/pinkish tones to my skin. The next person told me I'm a summer, which is really accurate. Maybe that's why I lean towards BB colors! I bet Shelli had her colors done, too, since she'd be in the right age bracket for having done that. Interesting!
And, I'm wearing something between Pixie Pink & pretty in Pink today! LOL!

I was just getting ready to mention this when I got down to your comment! My friend had us all over for a party. I was a winter, and I suddenly realized why I always went blah when I looked at myself in the mirror wearing my rust colored dress! We all got a key ring with swatches of fabric that we would look good in.
I agree that the SU colors are a similar concept.
I can't say that I talk in SU colors, but I noticed different ladies are painting their stamp rooms certainly celery.

Friends are like the walls of a house. Sometimes they hold you up, sometimes you lean on them. But sometimes, it's enough to know they're just standing by.
