Do you stamp if you can't sleep?

I have been having such a hard time falling asleep lately. Anyhow, I was just wondering how many of you who have this problem, get up and go to your craft room.

Wow, I feel really lonely at night :-(

Sometimes I do. Though most of the time I am tired enough I don't have the energy to get up. I have to have come up with a stellar idea before I do!

I try not to. It just wakes me up more and makes it harder when I try to go to sleep later. Something I did recently try is listening to an audiobook as I fall asleep. I check them out at my library... but usually something I've already read, so I'm not too interested, but something I like too... My husband can't fall asleep with it so I use an earbud, but it works wonders for me.

Another thing I do is read until I notice the words getting fuzzy (my eyes going out of focus... to me it means my eyes are tired). Once that happens I can usually fall asleep pretty easily.

Hmmm, I've tried reading, watching tv, and laying with my cat - LOL! I just thought maybe there were some "night owls" who could inspire me to go in there and do something.

I don't know. I am about ready to find out. The new driver in the house, wrecked MY van tonight. Ouch! That is gonna hurt the insurance. I know I won't be sleeping tonight.

I am a night owl. If I have to work the next day, I try not to go stamp. I find it stimulating and can be up all night. I read, play handheld yahtzee, and watch re-runs of old shows that I have seen. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

Yep! For the past couple of weeks I go to bed between 10 and 11 and I'm up somewhere between 2:30 and 4:00 wide awake. I don't leave for work until 6:30 so I will go into my craft room to play until it's time to get ready to go. Sometimes I like it, but most of the time I'd rather be sleeping.

I'm so glad I'm not the only nightowl!! I try hard not to stamp late at night, because I too just get to woken up - and yet it's also the best time for me to create. Such a quandry!!!

So - then I'll try to read a book - and it's so exciting that I can't get to sleep - or I'll come and read the forums on SCS and wake myself up even further!!

Oh to be an early bird!!!!

I think I might try the audio book idea. My DH is a light sleeper too - so I can't read in bed. Thanks for the idea!

I'm a night owl and I spend time reading the forums and yes I stamp or color images. I learned not to glue anything down until morning because I sometimes wonder what was I thinking and change things.

I fall asleep VERY easily...but I do wake up in the middle of the night at times, like tonight. I'm a morning person and a daytime stamper, so the middle of the night is not the time for me to create. But you are not alone!!!

Yes, but then I can't go to bed until I am finished. I am still new at stamping and it takes me forever to create a card. Tonight it took me 3 hours for my nephews birthday card--and if you saw it you would say wow that would take me 3 minutes!! But yes, I do at times.

I don't know what it is, but my inspiration usually hits late at night. After the kids go to bed I'll get online to relax and zone out for a while. I'll find some good ideas here and want to go stamp, but by then it's bedtime! I will stay up a lot later than I should though sometimes because I'll start something then want to finish it.
I'm sorry you feel lonely at night. I know the feeling too, since my hubby works nights.

I've tried but then I stay up even later. It's like stamping wakes up my whole mind.

I read to fall asleep. But that has it's downfalls too, I read every single night to sleep. If I can't find something to read I take hours to fall asleep. Also my eye Dr hate it. Says it's why in my 30's my eyes are still getting worse. Because of reading for hours in the dim light.

Sorry, that was a little OT.

The point is I cannot, doesn't work for me.

Menopause.. ugh!
Lots of experience now with not sleeping.. either being woken by hot flashes or just plain can't sleep. Often I go to sleep fine than wake about 3AM and cannot get back to sleep.

I am usually just too tired to get up to stamp but the few times I did, it kept me up more, my mind kept thinking about how to make that card better or an idea for another card.

Tylenol PM.. these days it's the only sure way for me to sleep all night.

Stampin at night? Not for me, because I keep all my supplies at my office so that when I am done with my work I can stamp. I don't think I have been so desperate to stamp that I would get up, get dressed and drive to work to stamp in the middle of the night.

I always stamp late at night!! (I have the baggage under my eyes to prove it :mrgreen I've always been a night owl, but more often than not, I just feel like that is the time when I have NO interruptions and I get all into it!! Of course, once I start I get hooked and don't usually stop until my nose hits the ink pad! lol..

I keep my iPOD under my pillow :mrgreen:and if I can't get to sleep, I put the earphones in my ear, turn to audiobooks, and listen to one of my favorite books. It is like having someone sitting by the beside reading to me. Puts me right to sleep. I do this even if I wake up in the middle of the night. I set the timer for 15 minutes so that I don't miss to much and it works better than a sleeping pill.

If I got out of bed to stamp, I would probably end up stamping all night because I hate to leave a project unfinished.

When I can't sleep I will do some prework for stamping projects that I have. I don't trust myself to do any coloring when I am tired because I don't think that I would do a good enough job, but there have been many night where I get alot of things cut out and stamped off so that I am ready to go the next day.

I second that...my favorite time of day after everybody else has gone to bed at night. I get so much more done when everybody else is asleep. I figure it doesn't matter if I am up really late, I can always nap with the kids the next day...ah the small joys of being a SAHM.

I'm naturally a night owl so I often stamp at night. But if I'm already in bed and having problems getting to sleep (which is common), I don't get up and start stamping. Otherwise I will be up all night. I will, however, lie in bed and look at my Stampers' Sampler or Take 10 magazines for inspiration. :p

I have often stamped at night. Lots of time my inspiration hits around 9:30 or 10 PM. I have often suffered from middle of the night wake ups and since I can't sleep anyways I will get up and stamp when that happens. ND has me taking melatonin supplements to help eliminate that middle of the night stuff and it is helping. I've been taking some other supplements to help with the falling asleep part and they're helping also.

I do sometimes, although often when I do I start something and can't get it just right and end up frustrated. It just depends on the energy level I have and why I can't sleep. If it's one of those nights I can just tell I'll be up half the night (a lot more of these recently and to come in the future - I'm about 31.5 weeks pregnant!) then I will often go to my craft room. Although recently I've just surfed the web and SCS for ideas and inspiration so I knew what I wanted to work on the next day. Bad habit for me to get into right now, I know, but I guess in a few weeks I'll be so tired I finally will sleep, right?

I've had the opposite problem...I'll be sleeping and wake up in the middle of the night because I just need to go and stamp. When this happens I don't fight it, I just get up and do it. 2 to 3 hours later when it's finally completed I can go back to sleep!

I don't, because my stamping stuff is all in my basement, and although it's a finished room, it creeps me out to be down there late at night! When I can't sleep (usually if something is really BOTHERING me), I pray my rosary...knocks me out every time! LOL

sometimes - depends on how tired I am, otherwise it's turn on the TV to some really, really awful program and it puts me to sleep everytime. If I stamp it tends to wake me up but if I feel as if I won't be able to sleep anyway, I might as well have some fun. I'm in this mode where I'm waking up at 4am with work on my mind. Ick... I hate it!
