I voted "I mostly stamp". I love to scrapbook too, but I'm 8 years behind! I chose to stamp, because I sell my cards which = more money for craft supplies!

Oh NO! I can't beleive this. Personally I'm a stamper who makes lots of plans to scrapbook, but can never follow through due to the time demands. Interesting...I guess it takes all kinds!
I think if there were more sets of stamps like SU etc they would sell better at craft stores. I generally buy SU because they come in a set, plus are better priced when you look at stamps seperatly. I love scrapbooking too.
I love stamping, especailly since I have found this website, to tempt me
with more purchases of stampin up especailly; however, I am a scrapper and find it most economical to make cards also with scrapping paper and
embellishment besides the scrapped memories. Carolyn
It was exclusively stamping for 6 years and then she started adding scrapping until it crowded out the stamping. She is now selling out all stamping stuff as she feels it is "over".
Wow ... clearly she's never seen SCS! LOL!
I'm a stamper ... I have never scrapbooked and probably never will. That said, I do use some supplies that would be considered scrapbooking like the background papers as well as things like page pebbles and other embellishments that I think were designed for scrappers.
I know a LOT of people that scrapbook, but use their rubber stamps to do their scrapbooking. I really don't think stamping is going away ... there are way too many of us addicts out here that need our fix!

That is me! I have great plans to scrapbook but never quite make it! I think because I am overwhelmed to make an entire scrapbook full of lots of pages!! That is intimidating!! But I can sit down and make a card in just a few minutes. Ok, that's a lie! It actually takes me hours to complete a card. Can you imagine how long it would take to make an entire 12x12 page!!
I voted both Stamping and Scrapbooking. However, I've been in a creative slump with my scrapbooking for a couple of months. I started stamping several years ago then began scraping. I love both and that my supplies can be used for both hobbies. When I buy a stamp set I always keep in mind whether it can be used for a scrap page some day as well!
In answer to the original thread, I just think that scrapbooking is the "in" thing right now and is getting alot more publicity. In no way will stamping go out.
I voted that I do both! I started out scrapping 4 years ago and started stamping a year ago! Since starting SCS, stamping has defnitely taken the lead, but I still scrap! I tend to go through phases! I also seem to end up doing other people's instead of my own!
Scrapbooking makes me feel like I am writing down history, which in itself makes me feel very productive and like I am really doing something that matters! (not that card making doesn't!)
What I love about card making is the gratification of being done in a fairly short period of time (compared to scrapbooking)! A card may take 15 min - 1 hr (sometimes a little more), where as a s/b page sometimes takes me 3-4 hrs!!
Basically, anything to do with paper crafts is a hit with me!!! I love it all, and I LOVE collecting all the different stamps!!!!!!! (if only there was no such thing as a budget!!!)
I started out scrapbooking but as most have said it is so time consuming and I'm so far behind. I have stacks of albums that I need to take apart and remove my photos from the days of unsafe plastic covered pages. I moved on to stamping, but I really need to salvage my photos.
I think stamping is very popular and not at all on it's way out. I do think it may be on it's way out for the LSSs as companys like SU are very popular. Stampers seem to like the sets and all the co-ordinating items.
i do both quite often, I am a stampin up demo and have a stamp club so stay quite busy with that I do not contribute to hallmark or any other premade cards so i strictly stamp them, I scrapbook very often and recommend to anyone who scraps and has a love for stamping to take the courage and intermingle them togethor its amazing!

I mostly stamp. The gratification is quicker. I have 3 scrapbook projects I haven't completed. I bought a Disney Cartridge for my Cricut on Saturday with the "promise" I would use it to scap my upcoming trip to WDW. *snicker*snort! I will probably use it for cards! My LSS has just started carrying more stamps and they have classes almost every week for cards, so it does depend on your area. STAMP ON!

*thumbs up* Everyone I know who scraps uses stamps... I voted stamps only, because I haven't really had time to get in to scrapping yet, though I intend to... AND I intend to use my stamps.
I ONLY stamp i have not interest in scrapping it takes to long well it would for me i have way to many pics if i were to do any scrapping it would be of the family photos that date back to the 1920's that i have.
I stamp in my scrapbook but am definitely in a scrapping slump right now. I definitely think that our local stores that sell stamps are way over priced and just not as good a quality as what you get with SU. Once you've started buying in sets it is really hard to buy one stamp or to try to pieces something together. I have been stamping for 9 years and don't see that ending anytime soon.

To me, the two go hand in hand. I am primarily a scrapper but this site turned me on to cards. I have never scrapped with out stamps. I'm just not a sticker fan and digiscrapping feels like work.
Long live the stamp.

I'm a confirmed cardmaker! I've never scrapped and don't think I ever will as it doesn't appeal to me.
Since joinig SCS I've done other projects apart from cards like altered cans, bottles, clippies and coaster boxes and I've loved doing those! An altered notebook and paint can are next on the list.
But I don't only use stamps in my cardmaking - I also love using my die cuts and those gorgeous scrapbook papers and embellishments like the Primas and Bazzill blooms.
I do a fair amount of both stamping and scrapbooking. I started off scrapbooking and then moved on to stamping I equally enjoy them both but have to say I scrapbook just a bit more. I however do not think stamping is on it's way out at all.
I meant to add that I'm also an instant-grat chick and stamping affords me that--I like being finished with a card in 15 minutes, whereas a scrapbook page or 2-page layout can take me an entire weekend, especially if I'm working on anything much larger than an A-2 "canvas" . . . :p
15 minutes?? Serious??? You really are HRR!
I think stamping is definitely on the rise! That's my story and I'm sticking to it! Who has the attention span to create a whole book? Not me I tell ya!

I do both!
I really enjoy scrapping, just haven't gotten to do much lately. I get the most scrapping done when I go to crops and can focus solely on scrapping. I am easily distracted!!;)
I don't scrapbook alot (maybe 1 page a year). But when I do, I use Photoshop. I struggle with the large canvas to work with. So being that I have to have instant gratification; I like stamping. I don't just limit myself to cards though. I like making other stuff too. That is why this site is so great. I find so many great ideas on here. I believe as others said; it is an inventory issue. It's hard to know what to carry. And new stuff is coming out all of the time. It's hard to keep up. I am glad to know Stampin Up won't be closing shop any time soon. I get most of my stamps from there anyway.
I do both, but find stamping to be easier and faster since you are working with such a small area. Sometimes I get very stalled on my pages because I'm not sure how to fill up the space.
I've been stamping for 9 years and scrapping for 7
years. I mostly stamp mini books that have photographs or themes. Sometimes I stamp in my scrapbooks. I don't agree with that store owner. Stamping is still popular! A lot of stampers scrap, and a lot of scrappers stamp.
I only stamp. Sometimes I think I'd like to scrapbook but I don't have kids. I guess I could do my animals and niece and nephew. But I don't know how good I'd be at scrapbooking. I did one for my classroom where I used to work but it was pretty simplistic.
I voted for both because no matter what I do, it takes me hours for cards and SB pages. So, I do both. I use stamps on both and no stamps on both. Whatever strikes me fancy at the time. I would like to add that I am cuttlebuggin on everything right now. My hubby sees me sit at my desk and he yells, "you buggin again???" Oh, yeah baby, I'm buggin.
I meant to add that I'm also an instant-grat chick and stamping affords me that--I like being finished with a card in 15 minutes, whereas a scrapbook page or 2-page layout can take me an entire weekend, especially if I'm working on anything much larger than an A-2 "canvas" . . . :p
Ditto to this!! I do scrap, (slowly) but cards always seem to get done quicker!;)
I started doing any of the SU stuff to learn to scrap 5 years ago....got into cards and scrapping went by the wayside....2 years ago my LSS opened....now I do both pretty evenly, using stamps on both and scrapping supplies on both.
sorry wanted to add:
I have noticed I haven't used my alphas in favor of diecut letters and hand journaling though....may even get rid of 80 % of them.........
I love stampin' and scrappin' equally but for different reasons. Stampin' gives nearly instant gratification to me and a huge warm fuzzy to whoever receives the card (which gives me a warm fuzzy too!). Scrappin' is a long-term investment in preserving the lives and memories of my family.
BTW--SB pages don't have to take forever to make, either. I've gotten pretty fast and can whip out pages that make me happy in under an hour. Not as fast as a card, of course, but still not too bad. Simple Scrapbooks Magazine rocks!
I am a stamper through and though. I don't intentionally avoid scrapbooking...ok, lie...I do. I am so picky that I sometimes take FOREVER to complete a page, then once it is complete I will go back, take it apart and do it over. Stamping smaller projects is much better for me.
Anyone have people who think because you stamp you are a scrapbooker too? I get that ALL the time. "There she goes to do her scrapbooking." Right!

both
I like both. I rarely use my stamps in scrapbook pages, other than alphabets. I use my scrapbook stuff on cards all the time, and use my stamps for cardmaking. I am trying to push myself to use stamps in my scrapbook pages and have been 'collecting' phrase stamps lately to try on layouts. My sb pages are very simple, and my cards tend to have a lot more layers, textures, color, etc. For me, they are at opposite ends of the spectrum; cards=artistic, expressive, and sb pages=telling a story with photographs and writing.

I've been stamping for 20 years so I don't think it's going away. I also love to scrapbook and was caught up until baby #3 came along. (That was 6 years ago) I haven't touched my pictures much since:( . My baby will be in 1st grade next year and will be going to school all day so my goal is to start back at it and get caught up again. I love to do it and I just need to make the time. Great thread BTW!
I voted for both. I started as a Scrapbooker, but I am now very addicted to stamping. But I usually try to buy stamps to use in scrapbooking, like all the Flourishes, Journalling, flowers, .......
I started as a scrapper and still do it quite a bit, but now I use stamps to scrap and have gotten into cards and boxes, too. But on this site, a stamping site, I don't think you'll find many people who say scrapping mostly--those on this site who scrap will almost always also stamp also--that's why they're here!!
