Kim, is it too cheezy if I say "carpe diem" ? It means "seize the day".
smiles,
heidi

Two of my moms favorite...
Things always look better in the morning
Things always work out in the end, if they haven't worked out your not at the end

Two of my dads favorite...
Your not the brightest crayon in the box
Never take any wooden nickles

I suppose mine would be...
Life to short, laugh often
Diversity is all we need

Gramma Birdie 12-23-2008 12:57 AM

"Just remember...everything Fred Astaire did, Ginger Rogers did backwards AND in heels!"

StampingShawn 12-23-2008 05:34 AM

One of my favorite quotes is below:

"You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf."

lorirn 12-23-2008 06:30 AM

A Few of My Favorites:

To the World You are One Person, to One Person You are the World

Life Is What Happens When You Are Trying to Make Other Plans- John Lennon

Life is Not Measured by the Number of Breathes you Take, but By The Number of Moments that Take Your Breath Away.

My all-time favorite quote, drummed into me by my late father, is:

"Admit you don't know and then find out."

That philosophy has fueled a lot of my curiosity, all to good advantage.

mztamela 12-23-2008 09:57 AM

I've always liked this one. It has been quoted and misquoted many times.

There is so much good in the worst of us, and so much bad in the best of us, that it ill behaves any of us to find fault with the rest of us.
James Truslow Adams

I like that.

Something I often told my son as he was growing up and not wanting to do his homework:

If you don't start; you'll never finish

I have had to tell myself that on many occassions when facing projects I didn't want to do (clean the house, complete Christmas cards, etc.)

Hope it can help motivate you, too.

stitchinstampin 12-23-2008 10:36 AM

I'm famous for this one when I don't like something...."it wouldn't be my first choice".....drives my husband nuts

maryrose 12-23-2008 12:30 PM

I've always liked "It is never too late to be what you might have been." That's a quote from George Eliot, I believe.

Crazy drivers-"Where did he get his driver's license? A gumball machine??"

My dad says plenty of good ones, but maybe not for a bookmark.

"It's 6 of one and 1/2 a dozen of another"

"he's a few bricks short of a full load"

"if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all"

"The world is conspiring in my favor today!"

(Chant that to yourself, even on bad days; it does help to start turning things around on any given day and see the good in it vs. the negative).

CherylPenner 12-23-2008 06:11 PM

I saw a great bumper sticker the other day that said:

silence is golden, duct tape is silver.

I'm still chuckling about it.

Robyneincalifornia 12-23-2008 06:45 PM

I saw this one the other day........
'Its better to have loved and lost....
than to be around a psycho the rest
of your life'
Reminded me of someone I once worked with !!

Here are a couple:

I didn't just fall off the turnip truck ya' know....

The elevator went up but no one got off.....

TeeGeeDee 12-23-2008 08:08 PM

Here are some sayings I like ...

"Life is uncertain ... eat dessert first!"

"Don't cry because it's over ... smile because it happened."

"There are no problems ... just challenges and opportunities."

This is from a song but I can't remember which group did it (and don't know who wrote the lyrics):

"If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice."

OH my gosh, I say that all the time! I also say "They are one sleeve short of a sweater"

Tomorrow is a mystery, today is a gift.

That's why they call it the present.

(I believe Eleanor Roosevelt said that)

:D

I have 2 favourites -

"Time is an illusion, especially lunchtime" - Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy

"I'm going to live forever or die trying" - Woody Allen (I think) which is my philosophy for life

oh and this next one is just so true for me -
"God put me on this earth to accomplish a certain number of things.
Right now I am so far behind that I will never die." Bill Watterson

I always say thisto everyone...Get over it! LOL I should have that on a stamp!

mrsa1993 12-24-2008 12:13 PM

Here are my favorite quotes that I put on an altered clipboard for myself:

Masquerading as a normal person day after day is exhausting.
If you don't know where you're going, any road will get you there.
"why not?" is a slogan for an interesting life.
If you are not living on the edge you are taking up too much room.
Another belief of mine: that everyone else my age is an adult, whereas I am merely in disguise.
Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it. (Ferris Bueller)
Taken out of context I must seem so strange.

kphorse 12-24-2008 12:19 PM

mrsa1993.....you must be my long lost twin! LOL

Love your outlook on life! LOL

marciad 12-24-2008 01:12 PM

On the light side: Smile, it gives your face something to do. Smile. It makes people wonder what you've been up to. If you see someone without a smile, give them one of yours.

glitterdovefairy 12-24-2008 10:34 PM

Been thinking about things family members and the kids always say... Seems everyone I know has some sort of tag line.

That is cute as a bugs butt
Your not the sharpes tool in the shed
What Ever Looser (with right hand make a w then e then L as saying it)
talk to the right hand cause your not right
Blessed be
Let them write on the walls
