Can anyone tell me why some of my pictures just sort of randomly disappear from my gallery?

Every file has a name when you upload it. If you're not creating unique filenames - the next person who uses that name will overwrite your file.

For example: 13Birthday.jpg is a bad name. BDJuly200913Birthday.jpg should be pretty darn unique.

OK, I gave several pictures very unique names and they still disappeared. I am getting to the point I don't want to upload anything anymore because of the time and effort and then it is just gone.

Kim - the name you give your files *when you save them to your computer* is the name that needs to be unique. When I hover my cursor over the thumbnails in your gallery, I can see that they are saved with names that are numbers (for example, right now your top row of photos are saved as "11a", "3", and "14").

There's probably been some other SCSer in the past who has uploaded photos with filenames similar to the ones you've been using. If you upload your photos with the same filename that someone else has used, the gallery software thinks your photos are duplicates and removes them.

Does that make sense?
