DIY monogram stamp kits

I would like some feedback on the Just rite DIY monogram stamp kits.
1.If you have one are you pleased with your purchase?
2. If you only could buy one which size and style would it be?
3. What about the 34.95 kits. Are you paying more just for the storage tin?
Basically any feedback is welcome.

netheadred 05-09-2008 10:28 AM

I have the $34.95 kit in 1 5/8 round. I LOVE IT. My only recommendation would be to get the additional wooden handle as well. That way you can use any of your SU inks with the pad rather than having to use th re-inkers on the self inking stamp. If you are doing a mass production of something (like invites) the self inker is great!

I also just got the special occasions font with borders and wooden handle and the teeny tiny letters that you can put in the border ring at my LSS.

Hope that helps!

Jenmouer 05-09-2008 11:13 AM

I just got the Curlz and Special Occassions one - they come with a wooden round stamper...IMO unless you want the font with the big kit just go with one of the smaller kits...the difference is with the smaller kits you only get a round wooden block rather than the big "self inker"...

I was only going to buy 1 set but the shipping is a little high (almost $7) so I ended up going ahead and buying 2 since the shipping didn't change...

I have only had a few minutes to play around with them since I only got them earlier this week - but I have a feeling I am going to get a lot of use out of these - especially for gifts

Clownmom 05-09-2008 11:30 AM

Thanks for the feedback on this. I just ordered the $34.95 set and one additional small set -- and impatiently awaiting delivery. I had seen it demonstrated on TV Weekly and immediately put it on my wish list. It worked its way to the top of the list this week!

NancyK. 05-09-2008 11:37 AM

I have the large $34.95 set as well as the three kits that come with the wooden handle. Initially I did not think I would want the large stamper, but it is a wonderful tool - so very easy to use and if you are doing anything like stationary gifts, invitations, or anything that requires multiple impressions - the large set is the way to go. Also, I love the other kits with the wooden mount - the stamps just click into the wooden mount - both have grooves that match up with each other. This is just a great new toy!

Could someone post a link to this item? I am looking for a good monogram stamp set.

Thanks!

I recently received a couple sets and I love them! Okay so I have not really used them for making cards yet but I did open them and stamp some images so I could see how they work and I LOVE THEM!!!!

If you check out Emily's Blog http://emilygiovanni.com/ and read her post about Monograms you will see a coupon code for The Stamp Castle ;) ~ Please make sure you leave Emily a comment and a thank you!

I got these two sets.....I like the woodmounted ones so I can use whatever color I want and do not have to buy the ink pads!

http://www.thestampcastle.com/Produc...uctid=JB-07340

I will be getting the other one as well and wish they had more to offer cuz I would get them too!!!

Jenmouer 05-09-2008 12:23 PM

gee now I am glad I have already bought them...I envision a run on these suckers really soon....

Clownmom 05-09-2008 12:25 PM

Flourishes sells them on their site -- http://www.flourishes.org/servlet/Ca...AMPER%27S+TOYS

emilymomto3boys 05-09-2008 01:43 PM

I love these suckers!

I highly recommend the tiny alpha - way cute!

The main advantage to the bigger kit is that it is the ONLY way you can get a medium alpha in Times New Roman. And that's how you can do some of the 3 letter monograms.

However, I like the wooden handle best unless I am bulk stamping.

Here are links to two posts I have on them so far. No Time To Stamp - Sharon J - has some REALLy cute stuff made with them too.

http://emilygiovanni.com/?p=1895

http://emilygiovanni.com/?p=1911

And the code EMILY will get you free shipping over $40 (which saves you about $8!) at www.thestampcastle.com.\

And I really do love them - I bought my first one and was hooked and immediately went back to get more! I've got at least two more posts worth of stuff I have made with them this week, lol!

photocropper 05-09-2008 01:56 PM

 Emily I am glad you posted!

Isn't the med alpha the one in the DIY kits with the wood handle? Just wondering cuz If NOT I *NEED* to order more ;)

emilymomto3boys 05-09-2008 02:06 PM

Ok - I had to go check my stash, lol! I don't have them all, but almost!

The Curlz set has a medium alpha. But the Damask set - that comes with a large TImes New Roman - only has the large.

I think I should suggest them selling the medium TNR font separate!

emilymomto3boys 05-09-2008 02:07 PM

oh and uh....that tin y alpha - they are tiny! You'll have to use the tweezers that are included! I already popped one of the "O"'s off somewhere.....who knows where it went! Good thing there are tons of letters in that set!

MSBetsyZ 05-09-2008 02:21 PM

I just got mine yesterday (The big kit). I cannot get those borders on the big stamper! It's like they're just a touch too small. After 45 minutes I can get all of it in the groove, but when I let go, lol...one section pops out and then I have to start all over. Are there special tricks? I did watch the TV Weekly video and she didn't seem to have any trouble putting hers on at all. Aack! I really like this thing, but I want to be able to use the round borders!

Oh, and I also got the small letter set and an extra reversible ink pad...

photocropper 05-09-2008 02:36 PM

Betsy mine were tight but they stayed on when I got them in....maybe call them and see if they have any advice for you....ohhhh I am assuming you got them from Stamp Castle....they are really nice!

gosh - that is really strange! Mine were pretty easy to get in! I just start and one spot and work my way around - takes a few seconds. Did you try all of them? Make sure you push it all the way in as you move around. I really think that is strange! I'd email them if you still can't get it in. I truly had no issues at all getting mine in.

Sunf1ower 05-09-2008 03:00 PM

I have a question about these. Do the alphabets come with only 1 each of the large and small letters?

APandi 05-09-2008 03:01 PM

Thank you all for your input. I knew I would get the needed info from this site. You have all helped me spend a lot of money LOL. A special thank you to Emily for arranging the free shipping code!

erinbh 05-09-2008 03:02 PM

I have a question: I bought the original DIY Monogram Stamper when they first came out last year (?). I HATE the self-inking thing. I would much rather use a wood block. If I buy one of the new Manual sets, will the alphas and borders that came with the original work with the wood block?

Yes! They are all absolutely interchangeable!! I love that part of it!

It depends on the set. The Curlz set comes with one each of the large and 2 complete sets in the medium. The tiny set comes with 7 complete sets along with some extras of most used letters and 4 sets of the numbers and lots of punctuation.

erinbh 05-09-2008 03:07 PM

Thanks, Emily. Enabler! :) Seriously, though, your work is beautiful. And I have to admire a fellow mom of three boys! ;)

LOL, no...I got it at a LSS that's closing. I also bought their classroom Wizard die cutter for just $10, so I'm not complaining too much  . I've wanted one of those for quite awhile. Of course, since they are closing, nothing is returnable. I guess I'll email JustRite about it...

Um....yeah....about that? I just remembered what started me down this road in the first place. YOU, Missy! I clicked on your blog link the other day from another thread, one thing led to another, and I had to go get my own!

Sorry...heeheehee:-D

MSBetsyZ 05-09-2008 04:53 PM

Well, I'm back from another attempt. I watched the video again. There's just no way she's having any difficulty getting her border on. It's nothing like the struggle I'm having. My fingertips hurt like heck from trying to hold the border in with one hand and stretch the rest of it out enough to get it to reach enough to go farther around the circle. I'm just going to have to use a different circle stamp that's big enough to go around the letters. Shoot...

photocropper 05-09-2008 06:59 PM

Gosh Betsy it should not be that hard at all....I would contact JustRite and see if they can exchange them for you!

MSBetsyZ 05-09-2008 07:16 PM

I did...I sent an email through their website. I'm sure I can make it through the weekend, lol. I'm headed over to Seattle to visit my sis on Wednesday, though, and wanted to make her a packet of cards with the thing. Like I said earlier, I'll just find another circle border to stamp around the monogram. I have a few choices.

MSBetsyZ 05-09-2008 08:20 PM

Holy cow! Shortly after sending the email to JustRite, I got an email reply! A real one, not an auto-reply type. It said that a few years back they'd had a bad batch of borders and from what I described I'd gotten one of them. So Monday they'll be sending me a whole new kit! Do these guys rock or what!!!

prbloom 05-10-2008 05:09 AM

I have a question. To get the little circles what do you use? Do you use a punch or Nesties? Before I order I thought I'd like to know.
Thanks!

Colleen Schaan 05-10-2008 07:16 AM

Oh gals...I just bought a whole bunch of these monograms and I can't wait to get them... Sharon Johnson is the one who 'enabled" me with all her gorgeous samples... Thanks!!!

I just tried to cut them out this morning with my CM punches or CM Cutting system and they are either too big or too small so I am thinking the other option would be the Nesties. That is what Emily used on the ones she posted to her blog

?? Sorry, Faith....I don't understand the question. (I just got up, lol!) The circle I was talking about is the circular groove that the border circle is supposed to fit in. Are you asking what I meant by finding another circle? If so, I guess I was thinking that I do have other stamps that are similar to the ones that come with this kit. PaperTrey for instance is one...lots of circles in different designs. I could just stamp the monogram with the JustRiteStamper and then stamp the border with a different, separate stamp.

Is that anything close to answering, lol? Sorry...

One of the other things I got at this going-out-of-business sale was a funky little "circle scissor" thingie. It's a green plastic circle with a billion little holes in it. It came with a really small cutting tool similar to a coluzzle cutting tool. It's a small enough thing I can just keep it right on my desk all the time...unless, of course, I have a punch big enough, lol. I do have larger options, they're just kind of unweildy...nestie, EK Success Curvy Cutter, etc.

Too many toys, you think? Sheesh, I think I did a whole year's worth of spending at this store just because they're closing down. It's going to take me awhile to get the hang of all of them...
