I need a little assistance. Now that I am really getting serious about my rubber stamping and such I am collecting a lot of ribbons, fibers and other embellishments. My question is how do I keep these organized where I am still able to find what I've got?????? A lot of the fibers/ribbons are not on rolls as I got them from participating in a bunch of embellishment swaps.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I was eyeballing the Cropper Hopper embellishment organizer, but didn't know if there was a better (i.e. less expensive) way of storing things and achieving the same results.
Could you store your fibers on something similar to one of those cardboard sheets with holes in it(used for cross stitch)?
On "Clean Sweep" on TLC, a lady had a lot of ribbon, and they used dowels to slide through the middle of the ribbon and then mounted them on some wooden thing....don't really remember that part...but I liked the dowel idea, ebcause the ribbon spins!
(think gift wrap counter at Macy's)
For my loose fiber, I put it a inexpensive photo box labeled, ironically enough, "fibers". ;) I need to go through now and card all of my scraps on cardboard pieces.
i wrap fibers on little cardboard things and put them in a plastic box that is for organizing embrodery floss. that way the're all organized and you can see them all at first glance.
now ribbon...
that's another story :?

I have a great friend that takes empty paper towel rolls and winds fibers/ribbons around them and secures with a piece of masking tape. That keeps them tangle free and then you can slide the roll onto a dowel rod and keep it up out of the way. Or you can sit it on its end and have it easily accessible without taking up too much room. I thought this was a great idea for the swaps where you get a yard of each ribbon. In fact, I'm going to start saving paper towel rolls RIGHT NOW! LOL!
How about using a large mesh bag (like a laundry bag for pantyhose) and just throwing the whole bunch of ribbon into it and then threading each individual piece out through one of the holes in the mesh. This way you can always see what you have and you can just pull out as much as you need whenever you need it! If you put it into the bag carefully, I don't think there would be a problem with it getting all knotty... If you do try this, I would love to hear how it works out!
I saw Martha make this some time ago to organize her ribbon, etc. Maybe you could incorporate the tp roll with this project as a base to wrap your fibers around. She is so clever...
You guys are great!!! Thank you so much. Of interest though is what you do with your eyelets, page pebbles, brads, shaped clips, etc, etc. I am really having a hard time with those.
Jewelry or shoe organizer. The kind that are clear and have pockets with the hanger attached to it so that it can be hung in a closet or over a door. I prefer the clear one so that I can see what I have. I have a shoe organizer on the back of my craft room door. I have scissors, pens, punches, you name it. This has come in so handy and they're cheap!
I gotta tell you...for the eyelets and brads, you just can't beat the Stampin' Stacks! I have them mounted underneath some shelving in my room and have no idea how I ever lived without them!
I store brads, hemp, embossing buddy, minature clothespins all in the Stampin' Store containers.
Good luck!

I store brads, eyelets, etc. in storage containers bought at Home Deopt. I guess some non-crafters would use them for screws, nails, etc. There are small and large drawers so I can fit tags, eyelet tools, mono adhesive - you get the idea. I have another one hanging on my craft closet wall that fits all of my ink pads. I saved so much space using this type of organizer and I use my embellishments more b/c they stay neat and organized.
