Default Difference between SU and CTMH

Is there a difference between SU and CTMH cardstock. I use SU cs all the time but I have a CTMH catalogue and would like to buy some cs but don't know if it is as good as SU.

CTMH cardstock has a white core that you see when you cut it or distress it. SU! paper has the color throughout the paper. That's the only difference I can think of for the moment!

I like CTMH paper. My sister bought some at a workshop she went to and it seems o.k. to me.

CTMH CS is buffered and SU is only buffered in vanilla and white.

CTMH also has textured CS, currently only their 2 autumn families are available in textured but I'm sure more will be available in future catties.

I think the best way to ever tell the difference is to have a CTMH demo show you their cardstock. That's why I love companies with home demonstrators -- you get to see it in action before you buy.

Just to clarify on the textured cs, we now have it available in white, plus our Winter Cozy colors. They include blush, crystal blue, honey, petal, sweet leaf, and twilight. The white is AWESOME for creating a textured look with stamps, or inkpads, etc. Plus, CTMH has how-to guides for card-making as well as scrapbooking. (I've sold a lot of these to several SU! demos, and some die-hard CM fans!)

After starting my scrap and stamp life with CM paper, I was shocked and disappointed to see the white core in paper, but it is GREAT for a different look and the quality is good! Ripping and distressing it is awesome--I've added a bit of ink to the white part too. You can match the colour or use a colour to give it an aged look. Didn't CTMH come out with some great stuff in their new catalogue!!

I did purchase some of the CTMH scrapbook kits, I did like the patterned paper very well, and I even liked the solid cardstock although I can't seem to remember if it was much different than SU. I just got the paper packs, not the whole kit.

For me, the biggest difference is that SU has paper that is thicker than the paper you get from CTMH. So if you care about thickness that would be the stickler. I have decided that for cards I use SU for my base, and for converting items such as cans etc, I either get the designer paper from SU or get CTMH.

Yes, the cardstock weight is different. I believe SU is 80#, and CTMH is 65#.
The new textured cardstocks are really neat! I love distressing them and having the white core come through.

Having just recently been at an SU Workshop I can say that I was curious about SU's patterned papers. I can also tell you that SU's are slightly thicker then CTMH's. Both are great and personally would use both, the paper designs from the two companies are very different, so there is room for both in my scrap room

Though I am not changing sides as I am hopelessly addicted to Acrylix
