I have a possible recruit and she just asked me about Top Line Creations. She has been introduced to this company - they make paper and stickers for scrapbooking. They are a home demonstration business like Stampin' Up. Question: can she do both; SU and TLC?
Also, does anyone have any experience with this Top Line Creations and their product? Here is a link to their website: http://www.topline-creations.com
Thanks for any information, especially about doing business for both companies.

No she can't do both. Because SU sells scrapbook kits, SU considers this a competitive company. I have been through this with another scrapbook company that sells kits.
I've got a bunch of TLC kits they're fun and cute. I also happen to live about 10 mins from their wharehouse. that's all I really know about them though.
but I really think Stampin' Up! would be more profitable. unless she knows a lot of ppl who would use TLC stuff. they just don't have much at a high price point, and you can't change the color of anything like you can with stamps, so it's less versatile (then there's the fact that you can stamp on almost anything, and TLC is really just for scrapbooking. (no ornaments, or shrink plastic, or clay, or... you get the piont). I don't know if she could sign up with TLC as strictly a hobby, and not sell it. that way she'd get the discount, but not be competing, but it's such a technicality that I'm sure you'd need to check into that more. and yes their kits are a lot like SU!'s simply scrappin' kits, but they have less stuff in them (a sheet of frames and embellishments, 2 sheets of pattered paper, and 2 sheets of cardstock for about $5.25 I think) and their bigger kits with stickers and such cost a little more (like $8-$15 or so), and you have to cut out everything! (yuck! I hate the cutting part).
I hope this doesn't make it sound like I don't like TLC, I think they have some really fun stuff! but stamps are ssooooooooooooo much more versatile!
anyway that's just my 2 cents. HTH

I looked into TLC before signing up with SU (about a year ago) They have some really cute stuff (their kits especiallly) They don't have as much variety as SU. Feel free to e-mail me if you have any more questions.
A friend of mine looked into it. If I remember correctly they have an extremely LOW minimum to remain active. The kit is very inexpensive. $75 for $200 worth of stuff. TLC I believe also doesn't have a no competition policy. You can sell whatever you want. But, SU does have one that keeps you from selling anything else. I would call SU and ask if you can sign up just for a discount before trying. It wouldn't be worth losing your demoship over.
Does anyone know what SU's policy is about family member selling competing stuff? Like if this lady had her husband sign up for TLC and her sign up for SU. A thought.
But I would definitely go for SU. THey are the BEST

Thank you all ladies. Don't know why she wouldn't want to do SU but the TLC price and no quarterly minimums is appealing to her. I will tell her what you said Angie - that is a good idea. She doesn't really want the profit - she wants the discount.
Take care!

I have been a TLC instructor for almost 2 years. Our company has gone through a lot of changes and growing pains in the past 2 years but I am glad I stuck with it. Unlike the other scrapbooking directs sales (not SU) we have a product line that is exclusive to us. That helps with sales. I really like the kits. They have enough pieces to make at least 4 pages and sometimes you even have left overs to make cards. We also have great 6x6 kits. I made one for my mother in law for Christmas that I finsihed in 2 hours (24 pages).
As for the business end of it, it is $75 to sign up. With that you get 6 kits, a portable scrapbook center and lots of business supplies. The best part though is that you get a coupon for 50% your first order (within 30 days of signing up). I have had several people sign up just to get the coupon! Unfortunately you can not sell TLC and Stampin' Up at the same time. This is the reason I am also a TAC demo. I already had a downline and customer base when I discovered SU. I was just not willing to give that up.
Anyway, feel free to have your friend email me with any questions.

This would be a direct violation of her contract with SU!; when she signs on, she agrees to represent only SU! and their products and no other that competes in the same type of product.
Now, if she signed up to do Party Lite Candles, that would be a different type of product line and would not be considered a "conflict" of interest.
