For those of you that purchase uninked spots, approx how many drops of ink does it take for you to get the correct "inkage" of a 1x1 spot? I ended up putting like 5 and doing it 3 times but I didn't wait either... what protocol do you use that works for you? I am making spots with my incolor refills.
Thanks!

This is the way I was shown by my former SU demo to add ink to dried out ink pads.
I start at one edge and draw a line of ink across the top of the spot. Next I draw a second line of ink just touching the first line, and continue until I cover the spot. Then I turn the spot 90 degrees and repeat the process.
This will keep your spots nice and inky for a looong time!
I like mine to be juicy, so I ink mine until they're full. If you watch from the sides, you can see when they're filled with ink. I go back and forth across the pad, squeezing the bottle the whole time. Usually 2 passes fills it.
Be careful, when I did my riding hood red, I put too much on and it's definately too dark. It doesn't look like riding hood red at all. I ended up just buying the SU ink pad, because I love the color and was frustrated with my homemade one.
I too use the blank spots. I "draw" lines across the whole pad in one direction, let it soak in a few seconds. Draw lines in the other direction. Wait a few seconds then repeat. I find that a brand new pad needs to be have five full passes to get to the juiciness I like them. You can see on the side edge of the pad when the ink is soaking in. You don't want to make it too juicy or you will have a big mess on your hands (literally).

That's weird...I've bought mine from this place two years in a row (this year included...less than a month ago!) and now their website isn't listing the product that I ordered. I wonder if they sold out and don't list stuff unless it's in stock. I do NOT use the foam cubes, I use the ones that are just like SU! pads (fabric on top) and they are GREAT! So I don't know about these foam ones, I wouldn't use them.
The foam ones actually work fine... the new distressing ink by PTI has foam instead of felt as well. I have old Bazzill pads that are foam.
I did want the felt but they were out.. Not a big deal if they don't work as much as I like since I will have plenty of reinker left and can get felt later.
