Default Grilling tins....

http://bitze.wordpress.com/2008/04/2...tins-tutorial/

I stumbled across this last night and it really caught my eye. I am always impressed with people who actually think of something like this - my mind just does not work that way!! I'm going to try and squeeze this into my busy day today. I like the way it neutralzies the entire surface if any tin making it so much more versatile!! Have any of you had any experience with this??

I did something like this in a mixed media class. We burnt copper flashing to give it a cool patina and then ran it thru the cuttlebug embossing folders. After it is burnt (metals) they hold paint (acrylic) and inks (alcohol) and glue much better.

So the last picture in her post is the "look" she's going for? Black/brown/copper dirty looking metal? Can someone enlighten me as what you do with these after they're all black?

Thanks

Erin

You can wipe them with--I forgot-- and then do what ever you want. They paint really well and the patina is really nice but hard to show in a picture. Wish I could remember what the instructor said but that class was 10 hours with no break. We did a lot of arty stuff and the detail escape me.

I have no experience with this, but something tells me that the pictures don't do the final result justice. I don't think that they are as black as they look in the picture. Somebody please correct me if I'm wrong, but I do believe that patina (am I spelling this correctly??) is more of a multi colored finish. Can anybody shed more detail?? I'm going to give it a whirl with just one tin as soon as I find the time to sit in the backyard and grill a tin!!

I think they look really cool and if they take different media better it makes lots of sense!

I could see making them vintage and leaving some of the patina exposed - very cool. What *will* my husband say when I tell him I want to grill tins LOL!!
