I got mine - machine only - from www.CustomCrops.com for $169.99 (they had a crazy sale before Christmas). It's on sale there now for $209 with free shipping. They have it with one cartridge for $219 or two cartridges for $239. They're also running a sale on cartridges but hurry this sale ends tonight.

I really think it depends on what it comes with. I got mine at Costco last weekend for $279.00 with 3 cartridges. One of them was Storybook (very popular). I felt like it was a pretty good deal.
I also got mine on eBay with two carts for $199. I had to bid on a few before I got one though! I am currently taking a class on-line at MyCreativeClassroom.com on the basics of the Cricut. Lots of buttons on there!
I got mine at www.hallmarkscrapbook.com for $269.99, and it came with Accent Essentials and Plantin Schoolbook. They are very reputable, and I received my Cricut within a week.
I got my Expression at AC Moore store (not internet) for $309 with 4 cartridges, package of the Cricut markers and sticky mat. I felt I got a good deal with all that and getting to take it home. No waiting for the brown truck or shipping charges. I don't regret the price at all. I've certainly gotten my moneys worth from it and continue to every day!
The cheapest I've seen them (other than on ebay & it takes some time to get it for a low bid) is at www.ohmycrafts.com! They have the limited edition, blue one with butterflies, for $249.99, but they ALWAYS have 20% off coupons which brings them down to $213 with shipping. It comes with 2 cartridges (the popular Storybook and Accent Essentials), too.
This is cheaper than Walmart (& you can imagine how many they buy). Walmart offers them for so little profit margin that my local scrapbook store (which offers classes on the Cricut) doesn't even bother to sell them!

Yes, their prices are excellent, but what kept me from ordering from them is their history of negative reviews. There are many people who have had a lot of problems with OMC. Maybe they have changed, but I didn't want to take a chance.
