Cutting the Happiness Background Stamp
I see that some of you are cutting apart the happiness background stamp and I'm ready to take the plunge.
I'm wondering, did you unmount it first? Or just cut it as is. I'd appreciate any advice on how should be done. I'm going to visit my dad who could easily do it for me. thanks in advance. |
Hi Rainy! I hadn't even thought of doing this - I was going to trade mine because I never ever use it... thanks for asking the question and at the same time offering a suggestion ;) !! Mine isn't even mounted yet and I use all of my SU unmounted so it will be easy for me. Good luck ~ hope all is well :)

Hi Nancy,
Yes, all is well, thanks :) I hope all is well with you. |
I remember Beate posting on her blog about this a while back. She mentioned that her husband had cut the blocks for her, so my guess is she cut the stamp first and then mounted it.
|
do you have it mounted already? If so, just nuke it for 12 secs or so, then peel it off, cut it, and remount.
sorry if that's not your question... hth! |
Yes, I saw that on Beate's blog.
It is mounted, and I guess I should unmount it then have my dad cut the blocs. It's probably safest that way. Thanks |
When I did this, I used the craft blade first, to cut the rubber all the way thru to the block, then I microwaved it, peeled apart the sections and stuck them to the new blocks. So I would say to have the rubber pre-cut, and new blocks ready, so that you can just peel it off in sections while warm, and then quickly move the sections over to their new homes.

Rainy, let me know if you need blocks. Since I unmount, I have tons of them and I could probably find some for the sizes you need. Just PM me and let me know ;)

Thanks, I just had the idea to cut it and mount it on separate blocks I already have.
So, thanks for the suggestions, and thanks my friend Nancy for the offer of wood blocks. Now, since I'm still unpacking my stamp room after our move, I hope I can find this stamp...... |
I just plan to use markers to ink the word(s) I want and the stampamajig to place it on the card. But I LOVE background stamps - hate to take one apart!
