Default CTMH - Fact or Fiction???

Okay, my friend has been selling CTMH forever and she QUIT! I couldn't believe it. Here is why she told me she's done...

CTMH is going RETAIL!!! She said they've already started by offering some idea book that is available in their catalog. I guess this book sells for $29 and some change in the catalog and CTMH offered it to the retail discount giants (Amazon/Barnes & Noble) and they are selling it for under 20 bucks! She said those of her customers who bought it from her at full price are fuming! I guess when the demo's started complaining to CTMH the word came out that their whole line is going retail!

She also said that CTMH raised it's prices for demo supplies including affiliate websites which are $14.95 a month! WOW! That's a lot of money you could be spending on stamps.

So, can any of you CTMH demo's add any of your feeling to this???

I think they are all at convention right now. I think my demo said she was leaving for convention today. She did mention something about the book, but that she heard it was a person selling it, and that CTMH was trying to track them down. But I just looked at barnesandnoble.com and it says the book is preorder only, available June 28. Very interesting.

ETA: Barnes and Noble is listing the book at $26.95 for members, $29.95 for non-members.

There is a book called "Cherish" that has gone retail. Yes, it is selling for less than what we have been selling it for but apparently we are going to be able to sell it for a new lower price. I guess there are going to be future volumes also.

As far as I can tell this is the only thing that is going "retail". They claim that nothing else is.

My own thougth is --- ya, I am not real thrilled and it kind of bothers me a bit. they are telling us that it will give us referrals but as many of us who are demonstrators know you have to be at a certain level to get referals. So most of us will not get the referal. My thought is if someone purchases this book and likes that layout chances are they are not going to contact CTMH and order product, wait two to three weeks to get the product. There are places people can go and get close to the same thing at scrapbook and craft stores and have the instant gratification. Just my own thoughts.

I'm an SU demo, not CTMH, so this is just my opinion, lol I think it could be a good thing for demos. From what I understand, it's just the book that will be sold at retail locations, NOTHING else. Apparently the publisher jumped the gun and made the announcement before CTMH announced it at their convention.

The way I look at it, people will be buying what sounds like a great idea book and get exposed to CTMH and its products. Not only that, but I think people looking at how to use the products will feel more comfortable investigating something they know better.

And hey, anytime you get your name out there, it's free advertising and EXPOSURE.

I found the book on Amazon for $18.87 but it won't be available until July 15. I've heard it is a beautiful book.

I think it sounds like a good deal for CTMH demos. Great exposure to people they may not have reached otherwise.

Only Cherish is going retail!!!!! All other products are only available thru consultants.

As a CTMH consultant, I am pretty excited about this. Each new volume of Cherish will be "exclusive" to consultants for a year, and after a year it will be available Retail.

I'm sure more details will be revealed at Convention, which is this week! Watch for more news, I'm sure!

I think Cherish is the new scrapbook idea book right?
not neccessarily a products book, more a layout book?

My CTMH demo is making up the difference in the price of the book for those who already bought it by offering free merchandise in the amount of the price difference! I was too busy to attend the past few stamp camps, so I didn't even know what I was missing, but now I do! She did say it is this book only that is for sale retail.

Here's the scoop...

Yes, the current version of Cherish is going to be sold via online stores (have not heard one way or the other if it will actually be in b&m stores yet) and it will be discounted. On July 1, we will drop our catalog price to $21.99. And, there's a new version of Cherish coming out. Actually, there may be up to 10 new books. Jeanette was recently honored as Entrepeneur of the Year and in the write up about her, it mentioned 10 "cookbooks" on scrapbooking.
When Cherish 2 comes out, it will only be available through consultants for the first year, and then will go retail after that.
The rest of the catalog is not going retail!! Only Cherish.
As for the website prices, they have not gone up. Tier II (with the catalog and shopping cart) has always been $14.95 if you paid month to month, and $12.95 if you paid by the year. Possibly your friend went to upgrade from Tier I to Tier II and found out the price difference on that???
Convention starts today, with the exciting news coming tomorrow and Wed., so, I'm sure there will be lots more info coming out in the next couple of days.

This reply has NOTHING to do with the original post as far as CTMH going retail or anything, but had to comment anyway......I LOVE THE CHERISH BOOK!! My mom gave it to me as a "no reason whatsoever" gift on mothers day, and not only is it a beatiful book to look at as far as the cover goes, but is great for scrapbookers brain freeze........I flip through it for new ideas quite often!

And FREE shipping if you spend $25 or more on books...

And if you use the link here on SCS to get to amazon, then SCS profits from the sale also...

It's a Win - Win situation!!!

I also have to step in and say how awesome Cherish is! Not only does it have the "recipe" layout for you it has exact cutting measurements for each piece of paper in the layout, I *love* that part!
And, yes it is the *only* thing going retail.

The link to Amazon is on the SCS Home Page near the bottom of the page on the left hand side right below the PayPal link. HTH

It is true that Cherish has gone retail (July 15 release date). Amazon and Barnes and Noble are two places that have it as well as walmart.

Cherish is an awesome resource and Jeanette (founder of CTMH) wanted as much exposure for the book as possible. It is a really great thing that she has done
