cricut frustration...help

I know this should be in tool and product talk but can't seem to sift throught the myriad of threads so.... help me please...

DH bought me a cricut for Christmas even though I have one sitting on my shelf LOL. However, the one I have I bought a year or so ago on ebay and was frustrated when I could not get it to cut correctly. So, I decided to return the new one and get other crafting suppplies. This led me to get out the used one and figure it out!!!

When you cut, are you supposed to end up with cut lines through the letters? For example, when I program ..."for you" on George cart., there are cut lines through the letters. I do not think that is correct?

Also, it is hard to get the paper to load.

I am reading how everyone loves this machine more than anything, I would like to feel the same way.

TIA,
cindybee

Hi Cindybee,

When I first bought my Cricut Expressions, I went directly to their site and watched the training videos here

If you have the regular one, just look to your left and there are options for the Cricut Machine underneath all the options for the Cricut Expressions.

There are specific instructions on how to adjust your blade for the thickness of your cardstock/materials. This could be the problem you're having with the cuts. They also have the new "deep cut" blades for thicker materials.

As far as loading goes, I've never had a problem. Just remember to gently push the mat towards the machine while you hit "load." It acts just like a printer. If the paper is not in far enough, the rollers will not pick it up. I promise you'll feel like a pro after the training videos. Give yourself sometime to watch the videos because the two parts a bit lengthy. I made tea and grabbed a muffin and watch both parts of the training video.

thanks

Thank you fura for a quick reply. I will take more time (than the 4 hours I did today LOL) I believe I put in a new blade when I got it just in case that was the problem...I will keep trying.

Thanks again

If it is cutting across your "cuts" then it might be faulty. I would call PC on Monday. Good luck!

cricut info from robynstamps

Hi robynstamps,

I bit the bullet and opened up my NEW cricut to see if it worked the way most say and voila...it worked perfectly...no cuts across the letters etc.

Thanks for your advice about the used one perhaps being faulty. What makes me sad is when I bought it, the seller would not take it back when I told them immediately it was doing that faulty thing. I now believe she sold it because it was faulty. I sure would not try to cheat someone but now I know not to buy such an item used and without a "will glady accept returns."

I wonder if PC fixes machines?

Blessings to you and yours,
cindybee
