Creating Giant Letters
We are on a super restricted budget right now (and I'm already spending too much!) while dh is unemployed. I know the giant letter stamps aren't available yet, anyway, to us non-demo's. I am liking the way they look, so I'm trying something. I'm using my Print Shop Program & I'm going to make giant stencils in Times New Roman. If they turn out okay, I might use fun foam sheets & create some foamy stamps for grins. My girls are at my parents house tonight so I'm in a creative kind of mood!

That sounds like a great idea. Please post your results. You could also probably use Microsoft Word and just increase the font size too.

I've done all the letters (printed) but I can't get the Q to look right. I'm doing them in Times New Roman, but the Q ends up being shorter than the other letters & looks more like an O that drooled. Not that I plan on using the Q that often, but wondering what other font is similar to the new stamps.
Thanks. |
Sounds like a great alternative! You'll have to post your outcome!

Try Bookman Old Style I think it's pretty close, the Q is different, but not bad.
The letters are basically the same just not as tall. |
Thanks, ladies! I made it as far as cutting out the B & the N (my girls initials). When I did the B, though, I realized I had to leave a little bit attached for a stencil to keep the circle parts on there! It was kind of fun cutting them out w/ my craft knife. I printed them on cardstock, but want to do them on acetate sheets. The overhead projector sheets I have aren't the printer kind, so I think the ink would run, but I guess I could try. Maybe tomorrow I can actually make a card! woohoo!

I do the U from the All About U set with my computer - I've never bought the set.
Here is a link to one I did: http:////www.splitcoaststampers.com/...00&ppuser=3827 I just print the letter on my cardstock, then cut it out. I can stamp the edges, use a background stamp, etc. to embellish it. I'll probably do the same thing with the giant letters - rather than stamp then, just print them and cut them out. Good luck - I can't wait to see what you make with your letters! :) Dina |
