Default What ink?

I am loving decorating the envelopes of my cards. If I use alcohol inks, they would bleed through. Die inks would run if they get wet in the postage delivering. What process besides doing a separate label can I use? Advice please.

You could always put some copy paper inside the envelope before coloring on it with your alcohol markers. That should soak up any bleed through so it doesn't go on the other side of the envelope. If you are concerned about the flap part once you're done coloring, you could look into an envelope liner die.

Great envelopes! Did you use dye ink or alcohol ink for those? I use dye inks all the time for my envelopes. I suppose I could poll my family and friends to see if they ever got a card with ruined ink. If you decorate the empty envelope with alcohol inks you can slip some card stock in while you're working so the ink doesn't soak through to the back of the envelope. I guess you might want to line the envelope so the ink doesn't show at all.You could also use Stazon.

I use Ranger Distress Glaze on any ink on my envelopes. It is like a wax that you rub on with your finger, wait a bit and then buff it. It is supposed to make them waterproof.

I also just use my regular inks and hope no raindrops splash onto the envelopes

I do, however, always write the address with a ballpoint pen / biro so I know it will at least get there even if the decorative additions wash away or smudge

What about Ranger Archival inks, I think they are waterproof or stamp in waterproof inks and then use colored pencils to fill in. You could also stamp with acrylic paint.

The Micro-glaze idea is a great option but don't be stingy, be sure to use enough to ensure waterproofing.
