Does anyone CUT the background rubber before adhearing on the wood block?
I've noticed that in the past, some of the rubber hung over the block, so you had to trim it. The last one I received before it retired (soft swirls) fits perfectly. I don't know if I should trim it or not.
Yes, I always trim rubber on all of my stamps. In fact, there are a lot of background stamps where I don't just have straight edges, either. I'll go in and out around the edge, following the image. I dislike having ANY excess rubber, because it never fails but that I get ink on it, lol! Some of SU's background stamps actually would NOT fit on the block if you didn't trim.
I also trim all of my BG stamps before adhering to block. I know that you shouldn't do this but I also trim as close to image as possible to lessen the chance of having ink smears on extra rubber. Make sense??? I know what I'm trying to say...Good luck!

Yup I trim mine too. If you have a copy of the techniques booklet that SU sends with every order, you can see how they trimmed Print Pattern. It's cut right into each diamond.
I always trim mine first also and for a few of them I have cut them in half as me and a friend of mine have gone halves on a couple of them. This is not good for all of them though. We did this when there was a sale on them a few months back. I cut the rubber in half and my dh cut and sanded the wooden block in half for us. It is a great way to get more background stamps and you don't always need the whole stamp.

Yep, that is what I did and it works like a charm. I feel the closer trimmed any stamp is the better!
Yeppers! Trim, trim, trim! Get as close to the image as you can! It doesn't matter if it fits perfectly or not. If you ever stamp your image on an angle or anything by accident, then you will get that funny inside edge. Everyones made the mistake, and when you do it, it can ruin your entire project! Take it from someone who knows! Lol!
