Copic Colors - Santa Clause

Need some suggestions as to good colors for a good old-fashioned Coca-Cola type Santa. I have the rubber stamp, now just need to have some suggestions as to colors to use. Thanks.

I'm anxious to see what the experts say abou this.
If it were me, working from my limited supply, I'd go with:
R22, R24 & R29 for santa suit (though I think I'd prefer a deeper red)
C00 & C01 for his beard and white trim on his suit.
Three darker cool grays (which I don't yet own) for his boots & belt.
R20 for his cheeks
And the basic light toned skin colors that you use. Mine include E00, but I can't remember the rest without looking at them.

I just bought R29 and R27. In my opinion they are both too intense. I think I need an R24 or R22 for the main colour and keep the R29 and R27 for shadows.

I keep buying the wrong colours and it's costing me a fortune!

Here is a link that shows the shadows using R39 -- I think I NEED that color!

I think the link you provided to A Cards Delight is the closest match to the old fashioned Coca Cola santa red.

I'll see your R39 and raise you R59! Beautiful colour a bit like Distress Ink Aged Mahogany, dark brown red. No others in this family in Caios to blend with though.

Decisions, decisions!

Sorry no help here but want to see what every one says. Just bought the cutest set and have no idea what colors to use. Thanks for the help everyone and carolanninnwmo please show us your project once you finish. I am going to use this set for next year so I have time to color all year long.

If you use R22 for the main body color you will end up with a pink santa... the R24 is better... but to get a nice "real" red, you do need to add more shading with either R27 or R29... and I even like to go darker... with R39 and R59.

Here is an example of a R20 series santa...

Santa's Lap

I used R22/R24/R27/R29 and then added a bit of R59 to the very darkest areas of shading.

Hope that helps.

Thank you, Colleen. That's a help. I will buy an R24 to use with my darker shades.

I want a lovely bright 'Christmassy' red but the R29 and R27 on their own are too similar and look too flat and heavy on their own.

Wish I'd never heard of Copics (not really!)

I thought Linda Duke's Santa today was absolutely amazing...

Would love to see more Santa images coloured with Copic markers and what colours you used. Need to get working on my Christmas cards soon so I don't end up with a quicks nd dirty clean and simple (not that there is anything wrong with that and for some that is all they will get but I bought some nice stamps last year and should actually use them instead of admire them!)

Very nice examples of Santa and Copics!

I have used E08 to color a Santa. I realize this is a brown, but it has a red tone to it. It gives a nice effect.

I do not mean to hi-jack this thread - but which company makes a beautiful coca-cola type santa. I know Tim Holtz does, but it is over 5 inches long.
Thanks for any suggestions
