Condolence Card Advice

I just learned that a husband and wife that I know were tragically killed this weekend. I knew them from a group we all belonged to. I wouldn't call them friends, in fact I didn't particularly get along with them for a number of ideas, however I'd still like to express my sympathy and condolences to their families (whom I've never met and don't know)

My first question is do you think that it's tasteless and/or disingenuious to send a card considering our background?

Second question, since I don't know the families what do yu think about sending the card to the couple's home address? (They lived far away, in another state so I doubt that I could find funeral info to be able to send something to the funeral home)

I don't think it is tasteless to send a sympathy card, you are sending it to there families and at a time like this it will mean a lot for them to know that there is someone like you out there that cared enough to send a card and express your sympathy. As for where to send it, it would probably be a good idea to send it to the couples address, if you have it, as there mail will probably be picked up or there mail redirected so the family should get it one way or another.

Maybe address it "to the families of:" on the envie? I think a sympathy card is never out of place. You never know who will benefit from your card.

It sounds like you would like to express your sympathy, so you should send a card. I found out with the beauty of the internet, if you do a search in their hometown you could probably locate where funeral services are being held. You can send your condolences to that address and the funeral home will see that the family receives your card.

I would follow the wise people aboves advice. Send the card. It is always appropriate to send a card in my opinion, no matter your relationship, someone is hurting and cards of sympathy always help.

Definitely send the card. No matter what the circumstances between you & the people who died, you are expressing your condolences to the bereaved-and thats not a bad thing to do.
