Has anyone else had this problem...

I had two bottles of rubber cement, which I have only used once or twice.
When I went to look at them today, one of them was completely empty, and the other one was almost empty. All I can think of was that they dissapated into the air. No one else uses them, and I know I did not use them this much.

Yes, I have had this happen--but they sat for a REALLY long time.

It will do that unless sealed completely..


The way Rubber cement works is that it uses a mix of polymer (usually latex based so allergy prone folks beware) mixed with a solvent base (acetone, benzene etc) and as the solvents evaporate, the "rubber" portion remains behind, which causes the items to bond together.

So unless you have a really good seal - this will happen usually within a few months. Ever leave a bottle of nail polish remover open - it will disappear pretty fast too
