Question Questions about becoming SU demo

Hi-

I think I'm ready to become an SU demo, but have a couple questions.

1. I cannot find a link anywhere on their website to the "Demonstrator Policies" which is referred to several times in the Agreement you have to sign. It says that the document can be found on stampinup.com, however I've looked everywhere to no avail.

2. If you choose not to keep your DBWS (online store) after the 2 month period, do you have to cancel it (i.e. in writing) to keep SU from charging you automatically month-to-month?

3. I don't have a demo to sign up under, so do I just choose someone in my general area?

4. If you don't meet the quartely $300 minimum (say in 6-12 months) and you don't "catch-up" the next month, does SU then automatically cancel your demonstratorship?

5. How the heck do you get new customers when you are a new demo?

6. How quickly after you sign up are you able to place your first order (with the one-time 30% discount)?

7. If you purchase items just for yourself that are clearance on the website, does it count towards your $300 quarterly goal?

8. Does the purchase of catalogs (say I order 10 cattys) count towards your quarterly goal?

Any other advice?

Thanks for sharing!
Sarah ;)

1)The demonstrator policies booklet is on the demonstrator website, I think, I am not sure if you can get to it from the main site, but you are looking for the demonstrator manual, and it appears for me under publications when logged in.

2)Q. How do I cancel my DBWS?
A. Contact Demonstrator Support at 1-800-STAMP UP if you want to cancel this service.

3) Yes, if you want to go to downline meetings and such, and have someone right there to help you. That is what I did, since I did not have a demo, I searched for demonstrators, found a list of 6, and I picked the one who I thought was doing the most.

4) It drops you as a demo but you can sign up again and get the kit again, if you sign up under the same demo. If you want to change demos, you must resign and wait 6 months, I think.

5) Ask your friends. I found 3 girls up front who still are loyal to me. 2 have become demos,.

6) You have up to 30 days but you can do it the next day.

7) yes, as long as it is a commissionable product.

. No, catalogs are noncommissionable items and do not count for your quota.

Other advice:
If you buy a lot of SU! stuff, it is worth it to get the discount. It can be a tough sell and you have to sell a lot to make any money! However the $50 signup this month is totally worth it!!

I think you got your questions answered so I will just say that Stampin' Up is really a no risk demo.....if it doesn't work for you, you simply drop. But don't rule out being a business demo, a lot of demos start out for the discount as hobby demos and find themselves happily as a business demo.
Good luck and remember to join the demo side of this board when you sign up!!!!!

I had someone ask me about this just last night and I'm excited that she's considering joining my team. Here's what I told her:

Thanks for checking in with me on the signup promo. The quarterly minimum (regular calendar quarters) is $300 but your first quarter would not be due until 9/30. The regular demonstrator discount is 20%; however, your first order of $150 or more within your first 45 days will be at a 30% discount!

For the $50, you can select $55 in merchandise (no shipping but you do pay tax on the $50). Your kit will also include startup business supplies as well as a FREE Paper Pumpkin kit. In addition, a special perk for all new demonstrators this year is a FREE convention registration. To catch that last one, I believe signup must be completed by 6/20 but we can double check if that's something that might interest you.

If you do not sell the minimum in any quarter, you simply drop your demonstratorship. There are no penalties. You can purchase the minimum for your own personal use or you can sell to your friends and family. Your choice. It's really your business, your way.

If you don't have a demonstrator that you normally work with and you'd like someone fairly local, I suggest searching to find some and also meeting them if you can. You could also look to see if they hold regular classes, downline meetings, etc. It's fun to have a built-in stamping friends group but as you start out yourself, you can get your own group going.

Hope you decide to take the plunge. There's really no downside.

Look to the left on your screen. There is a "join a group" link. Click that and it will tell you what to do. See you on the other side :-)
