Default Classroom Valentines?

Valentine's is a few weeks away and today we finally got the flyer from school on when their class party will be along with a list of all her classmates names. It got me thinking about Valentines and I remember making some valentines cards with my mom one year.

My daughter is 7 and she likes to stamp too. I was thinking of maybe planning some fairly simple cards and somehow finding time to do them with her. I thought it might be a fun mother/daughter project for us. May cost more than a box of cheap valentines, but I know my kiddo would love handing out something she made.

Is anyone else going to be making valentine's for their kids classroom? There's 21 in the class, so I'm not entirely sure this is going to be a good decision! lol

I haven't come up with any ideas yet either .... I'd love to see what you came up with

We do decorated Halloween treats and Valentine treats every year! My kids are almost 11 and 7, and I will be so sad when they head off to junior high and don't do the fun treats and cards anymore.

I usually work with my kids to come up with a design beforehand. We decorate and make all of the treats the same for everyone in the classroom, it helps keep things simple. I cut all the cardstock and have it ready, then the kids work assembly-line style to do the stamping and whatever gluing or glittering is required. We start a week or two in advance so that we can do one or two parts of the process at a time instead of trying to do it all at once.

I'd say the best advice is keep it simple, simple, simple! When I've tried to do something too complicated the kids get crabby and our time together turns into something less than fun!

Here are the Valentines I made for my boys to take to school. They didn't help, because basically, they don't care. They're stinkers that way....

While my sons are way past the Valentines stage (ages 16 and 24), I've invited my two nieces, ages 4 and 7 over on Saturday to make Valentines for school. My game plan is to do all the stamp ahead of time, have them color in the images, then help them put everything together.

My project is relatively easy, with M&Ms stacked in the 1x8" clear bags topped with the scalloped stamp from SU Love You Much. I haven't photographed my sample yet (that's on tonight's to do list) so I can't share yet.

I found that the classic heart and scallop heart from Spellbinders makes a wonderful and quick valentine perfect for school kids. You place your folded card just inside the cutting edge of the classic heart (making sure you have it so the heart opens correctly), cut that and glue the larger size scalloped heart on top of that. You can use whatever Dp you have for the scalloped heart. Stamp the inside and there you have it. A quick ad easy valentine. I made these to hand out at the last class I taught.
Now hopefully you have those dies.

Have fun and be Creative.

I love your cards! They're just too cute! And the stamp set is awesome too!

I was looking online for valentine's stamps to use for this project can so far nothing has caught my eye. I hopped on over to PTI and bookmarked these ... might just have to be a copy cat ;)

I don't have those dies yet. I just got my die cutting machine for Christmas so I'm still short in the die department. But I did just get some Joann's gift cards for my birthday ... so a little shopping is in order

My daughter, age 7 and I made them this weekend. For the girls she used some Heart shaped cards(Studio G) I found at Joanns and I let her use my heart wheel and a few valentine stamps.
For the boys I found Circle shaped cardstock in the clearance aisle of ACMoore, we cut them into hearts and she used Robot/monster stickers and a Happy Valentine Stamp. The boys cards were very cute. I had to try very hard to keep my mouth shut and let her do her thing, but she was happy with all 22. She let me make her teacher one ,and I used the new SU valentine set with the treat cup.
I really dislike the ones in the boxes, and she had a fun time making them.
