Default Stamped Silk Scarf Problems

Hello stampers.

I am a SU! demonstrator in Canada. I really am in need of some feedback and suggestions! Could someone please help!??

I have stamped quite a few silk scarves and have held a couple of classes. I have come across a little issue.

I stamped the scarves using Craft ink, let them dry and then iron set them. This is the method my upline has used. The problem I am now encountering is that the ink is rubbing off when rubbing against another piece of fabric. I am concerned, do you know a way to eliminate this issue? Also, how do you clean/wash yours or any other project you have stamped on fabric?

If you could reply ASAP that would be great. I would like to get back to the ladies who did the class two weeks ago. I also have another class on Dec 16th, 2006

Much thanks,.

Stacey

Stacy, I'm sorry, but I've never used craft ink on a silk scarf. Just fabric paints.

Did you pre-wash the scarves before stamping? Chances are they had some sort of sizing on them, which impedes the ink from setting into the fabric.

As far as washing afterwards, I wash everything as gently as possible...inside out, no dryer, cold water. I want my hard work to last as long as possible!

That's really the only thing I can think of, the pre-washing. Good luck!

Default Giving it a new try!

Thank you for your quick reply!

I have handwashed a scarf and it is hanging to dry. I will try stamping this one tomorrow if time permits. I will post how it turns out!

I used regular acrylic paints and had no problems. Turned out beautiful. And SOOOO easy. They make great gifts.
