Need your help ...

I figured more brains and more eyes might help me find what I'm in the market for ...

I am looking for a storage solution with the following criteria:
*Needs to have long narrow rows of storage (dividers only between each row - none to make little compartments)
*Needs to have at least 15 to 20 of these rows
*Portable - I don't want something stationary or something too big and bulky to move around
*Affordable - Preferably less than $30
*Larger undivided storage area would be nice as well.

So far the closest thing I've found that would work is the Artbin Super Stachel Deluxe with a divided lid and open compartment base. With the dividers on the top and the two sides, there are 16 different rows. I'm a little worries they'll end up being too narrow for me to store what I'm planning to store.

I would appreciate any help in coming with another idea (doesn't have to be something meant for craft storage). If you have an idea to share with me, please include a link to where I can see what it looks like.

Have you looked at tackle box type units? Like this? Bass Pro Shops� Utility Boxes | Bass Pro Shops

You could get a few to stack inside one of their bags for portability.

I might have to stop by a Sportsman's Warehouse or something and see if anything in the tackle boxes might be helpful. I've looked at Walmart, but they don't have anything useful.

Scrappindad, maybe you can scroll through the Mission Organization thread for some good suggestions, or even post your request there.

There are lots and lots of organized folks on SCS, and they post many different options in that thread.

I've found some amazingly useful storage items at Harbor Freight, and their prices are very, very reasonable. Not knowing what it is that you plan to store, I can't be very helpful as far as specific items. Maybe this one: Toolbox Organizer with 4 Drawers

Thank you Sue. I may have to check them out as well.

I am planning to store quilling paper. It varies in lengths from 12 to 24 inches. I am willing to gently bend the paper in half to store it, but don't want to crease it. The problem I'm thinking I will run into is that the rows in these storage containers are so narrow that I won't be able to fit many papers in a row if they're bent and doubling up in the row.

Such conundrums ...

For the binder....if you have a Foodsaver, you can use it to create pockets using regular 8.5 x 11 sheet protectors. I use heavy duty sheet protectors.

I tweeted one of our fave quillers on Twitter and he said he stores his in these: Clear Plastic Tubes - 1 1/2 x 12" S-7016 - Uline




then you could put them in any box and be able to see them easily.

my tackleboxes I have in my closet are from made by Plano for Cabela's that have no dividers at all in them... so, I dunno if totally divider less would work for you?

I liked the idea of hanging by binder clips.

Couple thoughts. Look at silverware trays. They have long rectangular sections. They dont have lids though so it depends on how tall your things will be if you can stack them. Also desk trays-come in the perferated metal.

I might suggest you google clear acrylic boxes...I use them for my jewelry b/c I like being able to see everything with the clear lid.

They come in many configurations...from square to four rectangular rows in the box. I buy them at plastic supply houses here in my city but I checked and they dont show them online.

I found a sample-I dont know this company but it shows the idea:

You should be able to find cheaper. This was by ulitily storage plastic clear box.
