This is just a funny little story about my husband I thought I'd share.
I went to a scrapbook store today and I LOVE in Cincinnati. Well, I ended up spending two hours there. By the time I left, I spent $45 and bought a bunch of the new MME Signature Suite paper. I really love it and think it is gorgeous.
I get my stash home and am showing it to my husband, who has no desire to look at it but humours me because he loves it when I am excited about scrapping (or does he?) and supplies. He looked at the paper and said, "I'd take it back." I wanted to smack him. I said, "Why?" He said, "Someone took a pen and marked on it."
Of course, we all know that it is supposed to look "distressed" that way. He is not particularly fond of distressed things. I caught him outside one day getting ready to paint my "rusted garden angel" because he thought it got rusted because of rain.
Anyway, thought I'd share. What have your husbands done?
The other day I had sanded, torn, crumpled and inked a piece for a collage. I left it on the kitchen counter to dry. (a big no- no )
My hubby picked it up and almost threw it away. When I told him to put it back down because it had to dry.
He asked "What is it?"
I said "Art"
He said " Oh, reeeaallly? I would have never guessed."
Another one.....Garden related also.
It has taken three years to get a lovely layer of moss on some brick edging and a few terra cotta pots in my garden. Well it only took dh a few hours to pressure wash all the beautiful moss away. aaarrrggghhh.

Are you married to MY husband? LOL I made a card where the middle layer was off center and was only sticking out on the right side of the card. On the left side was a strip of ribbon and one of the script words going up and down the card (instead of across). He said he didn't like that the layers were uneven and why is the word going the wrong way. LOL He said, I've never seen that, nobody is going to get it..
My hubby knows a ton of SU colors. I can hold up a piece of paper and say "what color is this" and he'll say certainly celery, or whatever color it happens to be. It's really cute though, because he jokes around a lot, and I'll be talking about color combos, and he'll just sarcasticly say "Oh that color would look soooo good with pixie pink." Hubby's great. I think he pretty much understands my habit. He always complains though about how much money I spend on all of this stuff. He doesn't stamp but once in a while he'll make a card for me, and the poor guy trys so hard, and they actually look good, and one time he said to me, "honey we really need a more stamps." Because I really don't have that many. I was like "OMG I've been waiting so long to hear thoes words"

oh, my! He really said you really need more stamps??!!
How wonderful is that?
My DH asked me not to buy any more stuff. He looked at me seriously and said ~ I mean, you really have a lot of stuff. LOL

My DH occasionally comes into the craft room, looks around, and shakes his head. He sometimes jokes that I've got too much stuff, but he knows he can't talk. His hobby is triathlon (swim, bike, run in one race) and we spend a fortune on gear for him and his stable of bikes (the cheapest bike he owns was over $2500). He's attempting his second Ironman tri today in Wisconsin (2.5 mile swim, 116 mile bike, marathon run). He's crazy obsessive about it, so he can't complain about my hobby!
He calls me over to the computer to look at "bike porn"--"Isn't she beautiful?" he'll ask of a picture of some triathlon bike; "I want her!" So I started showing him stamps. They don't do for him what they do for me, though!

*ROFLOL* I thought MY hubby was the only one with the bike porn! *snort* They must visit the same website. My hubby doesn't do triathalons (he tore his rotator cuff this past winter and can't swim right now), but he's ridden over 10,000KM since January 1st.
As for the OP, my hubby doesn't really understand this hobby, but he fully supports me doing it. He's always had a million hobbies and I have always had very few. This is a new one for me. Now, he doesn't stamp with me but he admires what I show him. But then, I have been guilty of the blank "uh-huh, that's very nice dear" look when he talks about his heart-rate on his latest ride or how he's thinking of bringing his saddle down a centimeter to improve the geometry of his ride. *grin*
We just had a discussion the other night comparing his spending on bike parts and my spending on stamps He just ordered a new shock that was such a great deal, so I guess I should start working on my list ;) He's great about it though - nods his head at the appropriate times and he will give color advice.

I don't make fun of KISS or any KISS band members (Vinny Vincent makes that deal hard for me) and he does not make fun of stamping or scrapbooking. We can voice our opinions and our likes/dislikes but, "You spent all day making that crap?" and "That man looks like a transvestite," are just better left unsaid - even if they may be true.

Well, Myhappyplace (sorry, I don't know your real name but maybe this IS your real name)...on your thread, this cracked me up: Click HERE to see why my husband has no clean socks Why, you ask? I'll tell you....my husband has more socks than any human being alive should EVER own. But he does laundry all the time so I don't have to deal with that. I do draw the line at folding the socks though. I REFUSE! There are too many and it is just ridiculous!
Taryn, you can't make fun of KISS or KISS members? Hahahaha! For the love of God! That is hysterical. I'm sure that there are many other who will make fun of them on your behalf. Me being one of them. But I guess they are all laughing all the way to the bank!
My husband loves Pink Floyd. Give me a break! When I'm out in the pool and want to relax and put on Luther Vandross or get a little Prince playing, he doesn't like it. Too bad! This is how so "un-Pink Floyd" I am. We have an annual pool party and the first year we had it (3 years ago), we had all these tropical stuffed birds everywhere and I put a huge pink flamingo on a float in the pool and named him Floyd. Now, one would think that I did that on purpose when I named him. The thought of him being named Floyd AND being pink had never occurred to me.
He is not particularly fond of distressed things. I caught him outside one day getting ready to paint my "rusted garden angel" because he thought it got rusted because of rain.

My DH is the same way... I purchased a really cool bench made out of old barn board, peeling paint and everything...
I come home from work one day and my DH has painted it with the same paint he uses on our deck... He just smiles and says that it was looking really bad and now it will last longer... AUGH!!! It's SUPPOSED to look bad!!! :
My significant other can't complain either. He's a sports collector of these toys called McFarlands. THey are the "sports action figures" I call them man barbies. He even paints them to customize them. He's always buying cards, helmets, more toys, all part of his collection.
He also loves football. I've never watched so much in my life. But, it does give me lots of time to stamp. I haul my stuff around to the living room to stamp and he can watch football. It's a good mix.
He never comments on the cost, as he has his own spending habits!
Last night I was trying to make the pouch from the WOW of a SS and it didn't turn out. I was frustrated as it was wasting my good paper. He said he could do it better. SO I let him, on a scrap of whisper white and he claims his is good. But it wasn't. I threw it away when i cleaned up and when I got one to work, he said, mine's better. Where is it? I had to tell him I tossed it. He'll never let this go now! He claims his was better and I threw away the proof!

That's very cute and funny! I told this story before but it cracks me up just the same.
My husband came home from work, fed the kids, went to the grocey store and then placed a comment on blog to get in touch with because I was stowed away in my stamping room. I never even realized what time it was. ITts pretty bad when your husband knows you'll check your blog before checking in with him to see if he's home! He's so funny and okay with everything, tho' I love him so much!
LOL

The store is Scraps, Etc. They have four stores. I live in Hamilton and usually go to the store at Cincinnati Mills but it really doesn't have alot of the fun stuff. It is like the redheaded stepchild I think. I sent an e-mail about it to the owner and for some reason she seems to think it is like the one on Fields Ertel Road I went to yesterday. However, I think she is VERY mistaken. They made it sound in the newsletter that it is going to be a "outlet." They moved the store at Cincinnati Mills to the end by where are the "outlet" stores are.
With that said, the Fields Ertel Road store was WONDERFUL!
There is a website. It is www.Scrapsetc.com. It doesn't show items they have but.....
I am a SU demo but I also love other supplies too so it is fun!
I wondered if you were at Scrapts Etc. I have only been to the Cincinnati Mills store, I have a girlfriend that lives just off of Fields Ertl need to plan something down her way, ha!!
LOL - I am having a hoot reading this thread! LateBlossom and Amers4 - you have another bike widow here....my husband thinks my stuff I make is neat, but he also wanders up into my sewing room/stamping room and asks me things like "are we going to eat dinner tonight?" or "look at all this stuff!!" So I usually encourage him to go take a ride or something relaxing. I too, feel guilty about the cost of stamps, paper, fabric, ink or whatever...but I can honestly say that I can't see that this stuff holds a candle to the cost of his road bike or his mountain bike OR all the special shoes with clips, special biking outfits, camel backs, OR the new $200 heart rate monitor!!!!! KWIM? I am jealous, though, of the fact that he can do his hobby AND keep in shape and eat what he wants...my hobbies are all sedentary, so I struggle with that!
My hubby is very encouraging, especially when I'm "coloring". He loves to tell people that I'm busy coloring when the phone rings for me. No bike porn at our house, just LOTS of computer parts and computer games.
When we were first married, I was making thank you cards with a little hula girl on them as we were married in Hawaii. Well, I left my stuff on the table and was watching some TV. DH comes downstairs and says "hey, baby, wanna see my hula girl dance?" He preceded to lift his shirt and move his belly around. He had taken my stamp and stamped the hula girl on his belly about 3-4 times!! I was laughing so card I had tears running down my face. But, the next day I had an even better laugh.... That's when he discovered how long StazOn Black can stay on your sking...

I have laugh until I cried after reading this. What a hoot!!!!!!!
My husband asks people if they've received one of my "thousand dollar" cards! He is joking -- he is so way more expensive (hang-gliding, boating, expensive bicycle & gear). Also, he goes through my swaps and votes for his favorites. He's really sweet!
I told DH today that my stamp club meeting is next Saturday and that I still didn't know what I was going to make. I told him it was a Halloween theme and that I was probably going to use the Booglie Eyes set and that I was planning on using wiggly eyes on them. Right away he starts giving me suggestions on cards to make.

My husband brings home all sort of boxes, containers, spongy type things from work and gives them to me......"I thought you could stamp on this" He's so sweet!
He does roll his eyes a lot when I tell him I just saw something that "inspired" me....a color combo, some type of layout.
I am laughing at the "distressed" stories! We have an old farmhouse and everything about it is distressed!! We LOVE that look! We bought a brand new unfinished cupboard for our kitchen and DH took 3 weeks to "beat" it up and paint, stain and crackle it. His friend stopped by one day and wanted to know why on earth did we do that to it? Too funny!

OMG! DH has a $200 heartrate monitor, too, then decided he needed a GPS as well, so then he spend another $300+ on that, didn't like the first brand he ordered, returned it, and got a different one for a little more money. NOw, after he rides, he downloads the trip to some website that maps it and gives him all sorts of info about his ride (climb, elevation, pace, etc.). According to him, it's all about the data.
He completed his first Ironman last Sunday in Madison, Wisconsin. Know exactly what you're talking about with the staying in shape part. How do I compete with that!?!?!

I love that story. It's one of those crafts that we woman only wish our husbands understood.
Tammy have you been to Hollo Paper in Brunswick? I drive 2 1/2 hours to get there. It's wonderful paper is only $1.00 lb. It's the best!
Shelley~
Yeah - it just blows me away when he HAS to have a new $200 heart rate monitor and oh, by the way, it would really be nice if it had GPS, since he sometimes gets a flat out in the country and has to call for his sag wagon (me) to come pick him up...Man, if I spent $200 on stamping supplies, he would think we were going to the poor house! It's a disease!
This is a hoot to read. I know what my problem is now... my husband doesn't have an expensive enough hobby!!! : )
Mine either! In fact, to my neverending shame, my husband's "hobby" is doing things around our house. And he's a workaholic, too! So while I stamp he's painting, and mowing the lawn, and cleaning the gutters, etc. Sometimes I feel guilty -- but I solve that problem with more stamp therapy.
I also have a confession to make -- I don't like the "dirty" distressed look either. We're remodeling our kitchen and we picked out one of the plainest cabinet styles. The sales guy must have been disappointed -- no distressing, no glazing, nothing that looks like permanent dirt in the corners (i.e. nothing he could upcharge us for). I don't like to clean, so I want something that looks clean to begin with and doesn't have a lot of nooks and crannies for dirt, grease and dust to hide in.
As for the OP, I once asked my DH to stamp with me -- just to try it. I showed him how to stamp by inking a part of a stamp with markers. Well, he actually used last year's Alphabet Soup SAB set to spell out something completely different. It looked a little like a kidnap ransome note, but it was cute. He said stamping was too much work, though, and hasn't picked up a stamp since.
My husband brings home all sort of boxes, containers, spongy type things from work and gives them to me......"I thought you could stamp on this" He's so sweet!
Ha mine does the same thing. Seems like he is always on the lookout for stuff for me. Of course I have told him to look for stuff, so it helps.
I somethimes think he's taking this hobby much more seriously than I do. I tend to call my scrap/stamp space for the crap room because I've got a lot of crap in there. He gets so mad at me, like he's thinking I don't have enough confidence in what I'm doing in there. It's all just in fun though.
