Well I was just thinking...can you laminate the wood blocks, and then put the actual stamp on that? It really bugs me that my wood gets stained, and if they were covered in plastic first that wouldn't happen. I'm sure some of you have already had this idea, and maybe even tried it, If so does it work?

I haven't tried laminating the wood blocks, but I do spray them with a sealer first. For those stamps that are already mounted, I paint around the wood with clear nail varnish.

I find both of these work well, especially as I clean each stamp as soon as I have finished using it.

Ohhh, what good ideas! that sounds like it would work even better. I actually happen to have a bottle of sealer laying around that says you can use it on wood!

My SIL used to paint her wood blocks with clear nail polish. I'm not sure if she did it before or after mounting the stamps, though.

Go to Wal-Mart or your local craft store and get a bottle of Delta Creamcoat Gloss Exterior/Interior Varnish. It is about $2.50 - $3.00 and will cover a lot of blocks! You can paint it on with a foam brush or a small craft paint brush. This is soap and water clean up, no odor and no harmful chemicals.

It works great, keeps the stains out of the wood and they wipe right off. You can also paint easily around already mounted stamps too!
