I just got the set More Petal Prints, and I'm a little nervous about mounting this one because of the long, thin stems. Any advice on this one? Also, I've noticed that a lot of the cards posted here have the stem inked in a different color than the flower. I was wondering if it might be a good idea to separate the stem from the flower and mount it on the side of the block. I know I can get the same look by using markers, but I've been trying to avoid having to buy them if I can.
When I mount skinny things, I try and cut close, but have the entire cut be at least a quarter inch in width. That way, it won't wobble.
As far as cutting off the top, you can always mask off the top when you want the images to be different colors, or what I like to do is to use the ink pad to ink the stem and ink from another direction with another colored ink pad the flower...
I don't think you need to buy the markers if you don't want--- you just have to get creative!!!
Hope this helps! Laurel

Of course, there are SO many other things you can do with the markers. They are an absolute necessity for me - I find myself using them every time I stamp.
I know that doesn't help now, but if you are ever able to get them, I would highly recommend them!

Thanks for the suggestions--I don't know why I never think of masking. I keep meaning to do that more, but it just slips my mind.
As for buying the markers...I REALLY like them, but I'm just not sure how much I would use them. I tend to avoid buying stamp sets that need to be colored in just to save myself time. And the few times I have colored something I just used my ink pads and blender pens. However, I know I'll probably buy them some time down the road, so I'm open to hearing more uses for them. LOL!
I'm all for cutting stamp sets to make them more usable; however, I don't think I would cut this one apart. I find it very easy to ink the flowers and stems separately with either spots or full size ink pads.
As far as the markers go, I love them. I have finally collected all of them & use them for coloring in & coloring stamps. I really like 2-step stamping, but I also enjoy coloring images in. I love the bright look of the markers give.

My skinny stamps usually wobble if I cut the rubber down to any less than 1/2" although sometimes I can get away with 3/8"if there are wider sections in the image. I think 1/2" is what SU! recommends in the instructions on the back of the stamp label sheet.

I use my markers ALL the time. I find I use them more than my stamp pads depending on the image I'm using.
I'm not very good at masking or trying to add color to each part of the stamp from a different side, plus the markers make it that much easier to have a multi colored image.

I got the markers for my birthday...I thought that I would use them a fair amount...boy was I wrong! I use them ALL THE TIME! I cannot believe I have lived so long without them!
