I will vacationing in St. Pete Beach next week and over the 4th. Can anyone tell me where some good scrapbook and stamping stores are? We will be relatively close to St. Petersburg and the area. I've never been here before and wanted to get some shopping in while I was down. Thanks for your help!

I live near by in Tampa. I have heard rave reviews of Whim So Doodle. I tried to go there once when visiting relatives in St. Petersburg, but they were moving to a new store that week. They have a large supply of scrapbook papers & stamps. There new store is 237 2nd Ave S., St. Petersburg, FL. (727) 827-7911 www.whimsodoodle.com. There is also Planet Rubber. They are focused on stamps. I don't have their address.
A short drive north of St. Pete in Palm Harbor, FL, is the yummiest LSS I have been in....Ruban Rouge.
We live south of the Bay and did a road trip there--oh so worth it! Great variety of everything associated with scrappin & stampin--mostly scrappin. It took my breath away when I walked in.....Just behind Teresa Collins from Junkitz. The likes of Heidi Swapp and Elsie Flannigan have held workshops there and Tim Holtz is scheduled for October!!!
The website doesn't do them justice but here is link for address, etc.:
My parents live in St. Pete Beach. (Near the pink Don Casear hotel). There was a scrapbook store on the corner of Corey Avenue (near the St. Pete Public library), but I think they went out of business and is no longer there. There are a lot of gift shops and speciality stores on Corey Avenue.
Look Luck and Have Fun.
Beth, there is an AWESOME fish place that the locals go to, my mom's friend lives there for many many years, and her ex has the swim & play clothing stores up and down the suncoast, I'll have to find out the name. It's across from what used to be ABC liquors....shucks I'll call my mom on break

Hurricane's on the Beach, south of the Don CeSar on Pass-a-grille, then over one street once you get to a park looking area...they have great food--good grouper sammich
Woody's on St. Pete Beach, north end. If it's still there. It's a beach shack w/fabu burgers.
DO NOT eat at Crabby Bills (if it's still open) I heard they've had massive health code violations
I went there for about 20 years on Spring Break every year w/my parents. just was there in Jan when I went to visit Mom. She's on the east coast, but we drove over to see her friend.

Philthy Phil's is supposed to be good, tropical bar fun
Patrick's Bayside Grill is fine dining

I went to the "Hurricane" restaurant in January with my son and family. We were able to sit outside on the balcony overlooking the Gulf. The scenery was beautiful and the food was excellent. I would recommend it. Also Levenrocks has good seafood. They moved the restaurant to a different location. My father had his 90th birthday celebration at the Don Casar. The location was great but the food is overpriced.
Leverocks is sort of fancy isn't it?
I remember that being the place my parents went w/o us kids
if the top of the Hilton is still hawaiian themed, that was fun, they've probably changed it, but it's a rotating bar/restaurant. it rotates 360degrees an hour

Welcome to sunny Florida! Let us know if you get any good stuff in your shopping spree(s.)
I think Leverocks is closed but if you get going south, The Salty Dog, on the south end of Longboat Key, has THE BEST fried grouper sandwich IN THE WHOLE WIDE WORLD!!
Hee hee. Sorry for shouting, but I didn't have lunch.
Welcome again and pray for rain. Just a little to stop the fires.
Hijack: I just wanted to say - have a ball! We stayed in St. Pete Beach 1 night last year and it was awesome!!! I want to retire on Florida, only about 30 years to go til then. Anyway, I hope some people can tell you where to eat becuase we had a terrible time figuring that one out.
We stayed in the round building and the open the door in the morning and hear the water was wonderful.
Have fun!
If anyone is still reading this... ;) I had a blast on vacation. We ate at Skidders (my friend loves it there), Woodies, Philthy Phils (good food but slow service) and some Cajun place next to the Flea market...
As far as scrapbook places, Whim-So-Doodle is amazing! I love how spread out it is! Most scrapbooks stores I go in are cramming something into every little nook. Whim-So-Doodle had a lot of stuff, but way more organized. Love all the Quickutz too! We also went to Scrapbooking in Paradise, which moved to South Pasadena shopping center. Smaller than WSD, but more Florida touristy things that I was looking for.
Thanks for all your help ladies! I will let you know next time I get down there again (as we now have use of our friend's condo)
