Default Calgary Bound

I'm on my way to Calgary this weekend. Is there any good scrapbooking/stamping stores I should check out? Hey, do you Calgarians have Dollarama, if so where is it? Any good deals at IKEA, since we don't have one here in SASK. Tell me before I leave, thanks....Can hardly wait....

I don't know about the craft stores there, but are you making a trip up to Banff National Park while you are there? It is gorgeous there... and Lake Louise too. I'm jealous! Have a great time!

There are various dollar stores around town. My favourite is in Deerfoot Mall, close to the Sport Check - I forget the name of it, but nothing is more than a dollar! Take cash though. Another good one is in Sunridge Mall on the lower level just outside of the Bay - again, don't know the name and it's cash only.

Ikea always has good stuff - don't know about sales - but I was there not too long ago and some original prices had been slashed.

Scrapbook Sally's has a keytag sale on this weekend. There also a Scrapbooker's Paradise in the NW (Crowfoot Shopping Area). And there's Scrapbook Magic in Midapore (SW) - I've never been there though. And then there my bedroom, with a large supply of stamps and ink and such - oh - you want to buy stuff - sorry, I'm hanging on to them all!

Hope that helps. Enjoy your stay in Calgary.

My favourite places to shop besides Scrapbookers Paradise, are Moments & Scrapbookers Bliss (Mahloumel gave these addresses above). Moments has an amazing selection and its really well laid out to find what you need. Its probably my favourite. Scrapbookers Bliss is a smaller store, but crammed with an astonishing selection for the size. Don't be disappointed by the small storefront - you will find lots of things to love there! I have found staff at both of these places very helpful. For stamping stuff, I love Paper Pastimes (address also referred to above). She is not into the scrapbooking stuff there, but has a fantastic selection of stamping supplies, special papers & fantastic examples posted around.

I agree 100% with Darci - Scrapbookers' Paradise (check online for what they have at scrapbookersparadise.com); Moments; Scrapbookers' Bliss and Paper Pastimes. The first three carry scrapbooking items and Paper Pastimes is only stamping!

Have fun!

I shop in Calgary when I visit:

My ABSOLUTE FAVORITE is Scrapbookers Paradise. The Macleod Trail location is huge! The NW is really good too. Great prices all around.

Favorite stamp store is Paper Pastimes. A wonderful, varied selection of stamps, including some Canadian brands that I have not seen available! ...and if you mention you are from out of town she will give you 10% off.

Thse are the only 2 stores that I go to b/c they are the bestest! IMHO

oh how funny - I am headed to Calgary soon as well. My sis loves Paper Pastimes and has told me that there are a couple of new stores just north of Calgary along the #2 in Airdrie and Olds.

Here's a link to help you spend your $$$

Slight hijack...what do you gals bring when you travel? Any stamps at all? Do share please!

I usually bring an entire full sized suitcase. This time I am going to bring some organized projects and buy things when I get there.

You crack me up Lisa!!! I usually bring half my house - but this time I'm paring down - probably just a bag (or two)

Actually I am planning my projects so I am selecting which stamps to bring and will only bring my favorite cardstocks (Fabriano Mediovalis, Classic Crest Solar White, & Iridescents Cryogen White), Prismacolors, Gel Pens, Watercolor Crayons, Water Sketch brush, embossing stylus, dazzling diamonds. I plan on putting the cards together when I get home so that I don't need to heft along other cardstock, ribbon, bellies, etc. So I'll just be stamping, coloring, painting and doodlin'

I'm thinking this deserves it's own thread so for those who have read it here you will probably be seeing another thread with the same information - I'm totally looking for more from my travelling friends. This will REALLY be a useful thread!!!!

OH! If you can make it out to Airdrie, check out Crafting with Carol (I think that's what it's called). Great little store with tons of stamps - new and used - she sells some on consignment! You can find AMAZING prices there. Here's the address: 400 Main St North, Airdrie.

Well girls, I've been there and back. OMG what a wonderful time.... I did make it too Scrapbookers Paradise (both McLeod Tr. and the north one) also to Scrapbookers Bliss. They all are very unique in their own way. Paradise on McLeod Tr. is the biggest, the north one has a few different things when I was there - organizers etc. But S Bliss I really enjoyed - they put all their embellishments in small jars so you buy only what you want not 50 or 100 at a time. I ran out of time for the rest of them but I will keep them in mind for the next time. And believe me there will be a next time. Thanks for all your input...

I just saw this thread... if you head to Calgary again, you HAVE to go to Moments... it's owned by the couple who used to own Crafts Canada. There is a lot of great stuff there. It's a lot of scrapbooking, some stamping and a tonne of embellishments. They try to be the first in Calgary to bring things in.

Sorry I wasn't around sooner!

Well I just returned from Calgary and life was sooooo busy that I didn't get a minute to go shopping! Egads - how can that be??? I did get to "play" with some of my sister's girlfriends though - we did a little coloring class. Oh what fun to see their eyes sparkle with the new techniques and goodies!!! Have a fun time and report back on your finds!!!
