Butterfly thinlits
Has anyone had trouble with LG butterfly not cutting through completely using Stampin Up cardstock? Thanks in advance.

Have you tried using the dryer sheet method?
This video uses both wax paper and a dryer sheet. I've just been using the dryer sheet but depending on your BigShot/cuttlebug etc., you may find one works better than another. http://youtu.be/filDg5iGZ8A |
If your cutting pads are too worn then sometimes the finer dies will have a hard time cutting all the way through. I just ordered some new pads. Haven't replaced mine since I got my Big Shot 4 years ago.
Something I always do with any die that has a lot of detail is to crank it all the way through. back and forth 2-3 times, to help it cut more thoroughly. Or you may just need a bit of a shim. If none of these ideas work then you might have a defective die and you should call your demo or SU to have it replaced :) |
I need 2 extra sheets of CS as shims with my old BS. I also run it forward and then back to make sure it cuts. I do use wax paper but want to try the dryer sheets, keep forgetting to pick up the cheap ones.

Dryer sheets (4 folded into half and used with a cuttlebug) has worked for me. I had trouble with that die as well, but since I've been using the dryer sheets, I've not had an issue. I do run through 2x anyway, regardless of cardstock selected. I think that the dryer sheets act as shims and attract those micro pieces that can make us all frustrated! Diane

Unscented ones are easier on the nose. Every run through seems to add to the infusion of odour. I looked in the dollar store but they were all scented. It was actually our grocery store which had unscented ones.

Some people take the die and dryer sheets and run it through without card stock just to "prime" the die first
|
You can also try placing your die toward the edge of your cutting plates and/or putting some masking tape on the top (non-cutting) part of the die where you are having problems.

Thanks
Thank you to all who responded to my question. Loved the suggestions and used them. I knew I could count on this forum.

Sizzix has just come out with a new precision cutting pad. It is made for the wafer thin dies. I had a metal shim which worked ok. This new pad is pretty amazing. It cuts those wafer thin dies like butter even with heavier cardstock. I am happy with my purchase. I bought it for 20 bucks.

I was going to mention the new precision cutting pad as well. I want to buy one, sounds like it is just the answer. Sure hope so.

I saw the video for the precision cutting pad and see that you still need to remove all the little bits with some sort of tool. I have found that using the wax paper/dryer sheet, the majority of the bits stick to the dryer sheet. This keeps my table/floor much cleaner.

I've just wanted the dies since I saw them and waited too long to order. I'm happy to see them back and on sale!
