There was another thread on this not too long ago. Someone - sorry, I can't recall who - was suggested dyeing the ribbon with a little bit of rubbing alcohol with the reinkers instead of water. It made sense to me. I tried it and have been happy with the results, but only time will tell. I have seen the old method fading (dragging the ribbon across the pad), but not bleeding.

It makes sense that the water content in the reinkers will evaporate and leave the ribbon faded. The alcholo should eliminate most of that. I think the recipe was 1/4 tsp per abou 6 or 7 drops of reinker. I'll see if I can find that thread.

Here is the link to the other thread that talks about using Rubbing Alcohol instead of water.

Thanks so much -- I just read that thread -- I am concluding (for me anyway) it will be much easier to just buy the ribbon in the right colors -- but then again, there's always something you'll need that you won't have --

I never dyed the ribbon in bulk -- I would just dye a little piece as a I need it.

Thanks, everyone, for all the input -- interesting --

I just found this thread. I don't have many reinkers so I haven't tried dying ribbon. I think I'll stick with buying at least one roll of ribbon with each order.

Sorry to hear about your creations, Sharon. That's just so sad.
