Whenever I try to use my cuttlebug folders to emboss vellum, the vellum cracks in places. Are the folders just too deeply embossed for the vellum? has anyone had success with embossing vellum with the CB folders?
Thanks,
Vicki
I've found that I put the vellum in, stacked on or under a sheet of cardstock. That seems to help. And then you have a piece of cardstock that is already embossed as well. Worked for me anyway;).
I usually put my vellum between copy paper...but the cardstock idea sorta kills two birds with one stone!!!! (disclaimer: at no time were any birds hurt during this post!! LOL)
The thinner vellum will/might crack using the Cuttlebug embossing folders. Try using a thicker sheet of vellum. Depending on the brand and design, they do come in different thicknesses.

too funny - you made me laugh.

Running the cardstock thru with the vellum seemed to do the trick! And I actually do have some black vellum, so I need to try that with the spiderweb.
Only thing I hate about vellum is it is so fragile. I made a nice SB page of my mom and dad that I put up on the wall of my dad's nursing home room a few years back. It had lots of vellum flowers. Many of them ended up with broken petals. But it may be my fault for not putting it in a page protector, and I suppose people came and touched it.
I found a site that sells 48# vellum paper. Wondering if anyone has used that paper, and how you like it. I am thinking it would be not so fragile.
I just have the vellum I bought at Target so it probably isn't top notch. Found that when I use the 'Distressed Stripes' folder some of the lines did crack but covered them with a stamped image. Used this piece layered over brightly printed paper so the smaller cracks didn't show. When I used the 'Snowflakes' folder, the vellum didn't crack. Maybe it is the 'linear thing" with the 'Stripes'.
One thing I noticed with my Cuttlebug, if you use plates that are not warped the sandwich goes through more smoothly and so there is not as much pressure on the vellum. (The 'Stripes' might have cracked because I used my scuffed up B plates that are slightly warped.)
Aren't the embossing folders fun? I have some of the ones that come with a die with sayings you can cut out and have been mixing and matching the different sets.
