Question Big Blooms - set Mounting help

This set has the two big flowers in it. And one of those flowers has another flower in the center of it and the other has a polka dot circle in the center.......Has anyone decided to cut the smaller flower out of the center of the big flower and put it on another block of wood??? Or the other big bloom has a polka dot circle in the middle??? I will usually want the blooms petals and centers to be different colors. Soo.....Do I always use markers or has any one used an exacto knife to separate them??? Or would they just be hard to line up if I separated them???? I just don't know how to explain this any better. Make any sense??
