I've just welcomed a visitor that's even better than a visit from Brown, for me at least! My Canadian cousin is over here in England with me and guess what gifts she bought me???? A whole STACK of SU stamps, cardstock, ribbon... there's too much to list. We're going to have so much fun playing with all this great stuff!!!!!! She's going to do a proper Stampin' Up workshop for our little stamping group tonight - can't wait!!!
WOW Helen
I wish I had a cousin like that. So where in England are you and can I come??? Caz
Ha ha! We're up in the Midlands and I'm pretty sure you're down south, aren't you? Can't you trace your family tree and somehow link your family back to LunarLana or Jenn Balcer or Beate??!! Then you'd have your own SU cousin.
Hey! Perhaps we should start a new Secret Sister-type scheme where the US and Canadian SCSers adopt a poor, Stampin' Up-deprived foreigner!!? Or shall we just keep pestering SU to branch out into England?

Hmm dont think I can trace my family back to them, how about Shelli from SU, now that would be cool!! LOL
I email SU every 6 months asking if they are coming to England... yes I think we should carry on pestering them, it might work!?
Adoption might work, anyone want a 33 year old female, hard worker, fun loving, loves stamping.... LOL

Do they tell you what they told me - that they were expanding to Quebec but had no plans for anywhere else? Because that put me in a bad mood for weeks! I'm sooooo ready to sign-up - I even have a downline-in-waiting!!!
I cant remember what they said, yes I agree that would put me in a bad mood if they said that, but mumourings I hear are different.... Hmm only time will tell I suppose. In the meantime I have to aquire my SU through the "black rubber market" LOL
That's to funny. Tell Canadian cousin that when I go home to Canada, I buy tons of Chocolate to bring back to the States. Favorites we can't get here. Coffee Chrisp, Smarties, Oh Henry and Caramilk bars. Ummmmmmmmm Chocolate.;)
Soo... Are you girls going to send us chocolate in exchange?

According to my friend we can't send you chocolate cos it is against your FDA rules. WE'd be sending you contraband!
I definitely want to be adopted though!
The only thing I don't like in your cousin's goodies is Birds custard. YUCK! Has she tried Sainsbury's Taste the Difference custard, it is gorgeous, I eat it straight out of the tub and I don't really like custard. I know it's not practical to take back to Canada but it is to die for.
Hope she had a really good time.

Really?! Why not? I post chocolate all the time and write "chocolate" on the customs label and it never has any problems getting there! If it's dodgy to post it, should she not even be taking it back? Oh well, she's never had any problems before.

She seemed happy enough with her custard - there are quite a few things in her shopping that I wouldn't get excited over, but then she is foreign. I think a few of those items have made their way back into my kitchen cupboard actually - she ran out of room!
Just dropped her off at my Mum's house - she's taking her to the airport in the morning. DD has sobbed herself to sleep because she'll miss her auntie so much! The house is quiet. Too quiet...
Just checked Canada Post's website (www.canadapost.ca)
and it doesn't mention chocolate as a restriction, although it does mention milk and milk products. I wouldn't expect chocolate to come under that category though.
Interestingly, "Bees, day-old chicks, parasites and leeches can be mailed under certain conditions." AND... "Dead animals or their parts, including, for example, the whole carcass of a beaver or a mallard duck, the antlers of a deer, hides, pelts, nests or eggs, may be acceptable for mailing, provided all applicable requirements are met."
Now, where am I going to get a beaver carcass from?

Milk is one of the ingredients in chocolate candy, and is pretty high on the ingredients list on this bag of Hershey kisses I have here. My guess is that's where the restriction came from.
All that other weird stuff y'all can keep! :p

Heheehe now this is something I do know about..lol. The FDA actually lifted the restrictions on sending chocolate to the States as they were getting so many people requesting forms and permission that they thought it was easier to lift it.
So all you have to do now is just write gift - chocolate on the green customs form and it goes through with no worries. I know cos I have sent stuff over to the States via a cross stitch board and it got there no troubles.
So we can now trade SU stamps for chocolate...wooohoo!!!
Imagine the workshop you would have if you posted it here on SCS and invited all of the UK stampers to come!! Seriously! The only thing you woud have to factor in differently is the shipping costs from the US to the UK! If I were you (and your cousin for that matter) I would do it in a heartbeat!
Anyone who wants to fly me to England....I'll do a workshop for you!!
I can imagine this "hey Darren, I'm off to a Stampin UP! workshop, I'll be a few days as its in the States" LOL Hmmmm not sure he'd buy that one. Would be fun though!

Well, it's official.
Beate and Jenn and the other paisley fanatics have ruined me. Because I totally missed the chocolate and saw three different types of paisley SHIRTS hanging in the background!!!! (as i sit here eating a bag of chocolate covered raisins.)
By the way, Brown just brought my paisley to me yesterday. Retired or not, it's MINE!!!

Ha ha! Did you notice that all the shirts have brown in them? And I bet you didn't spot the chocolate chip trousers (pants) in the top left of the picture? I reckon all these brown clothes are so that she has somewhere discreet to wipe her fingers after she's eaten all the stuff in the rest of the picture!
I'd like to respond to this thread, being as it's ME she's talking about!!!
In my defense, a lot of the stuff in the photo is gifts for my friends back here in Canada - we love the English chocolate! The Birds custard was just too much of a good deal to pass by. All you do is add boiling water and it's ready and there's not all that fuss and stirring and waiting. The Kit Kat bars were marked "low carb" and all 20, yes 20!, were for my sister. You will notice several liquid soap dispensers - I love liquid soap and these were in my favourite scent, orange and one was a foaming one - very cool! Two bottles of tropical squash so I can re-live my time in England every time I have a drink. Lots of double sided tape as it's very hard to find good ds tape here. Coronation Street magazines for a friend.
Clothes: now I HATE shopping for clothes and didn't even want to go in the store but once in there got a little carried away, don't you think? I love the tops and the brown pants were somewhat of an impulse buy as they went with all the tops BUT they were a bit snug - gee, I wonder why!
Everything is SO expensive (when you convert it to Canadian dollars) in England that I eventually gave up converting and just bought it! I was on holiday after all and had a wonderful time.
I'm just happy to do my little bit to help the British economy - LOL !!!
